“JG Pest Control attended my property last year to treat flies and ladybirds.
They verbally assured me that if the pests returned, they would come back to spray again. The initial treatment worked temporarily, but the pests reappeared after about 6 months. I reluctantly accepted their statement that any guarantee was only 4 months and paid for a second treatment.
When the issue returned again just before the 4-month mark from the second visit, I emailed them on 9 February (within the period). No reply came, so I chased them. They then claimed the guarantee was void because I hadn't contacted them every 4 weeks for follow-ups — even when no pests were visible — and that contacting near the end didn't count as the first treatment having "worked."
This requirement was never mentioned verbally during visits, in any paperwork, emails, or (from what I can see) on their website/terms at the time. Requiring monthly check-ins "just to say nothing's happened" is unrealistic and wasn't communicated upfront, making the guarantee feel misleading in practice.
The team were polite and efficient on-site, and the treatments did reduce the problem short-term, but the handling of the guarantee and lack of response to my timely email left me very disappointed. I wouldn't rely on their guarantees for recurring pest issues based on this experience.
If you're considering them, ask for all guarantee conditions in writing before proceeding.”
“Made promises they could not keep to get us to book. Took the total amount of £480 (to get rid of some mice) instead of just a deposit and then refused to refund the amount taken in error. Was difficult to get hold of anyone and office staff refuse to discuss the situation over the phone. Not a great service for the money paid and I certainly wouldn’t recommend this company.”
“It was a very traumatic time for my partner and her son and there was no aftercare. Once payment had been made my partner was unable to move back in, spending a fortune on hotels and B&B's.We tried to contact the company on numerous occasions to receive one email to tell us to rebook an UNSATISFACTORY service.. We will NOT be recommending this service.”
“I got a quick response and while all other companies refused saying it’s too early for bees to setup a colony JG pest was very keen to take money and take up the job.
they send someone who simply said it’s not bees but wasp and that he don’t have the right spray and left doing nothing
turned out the other companies were right there was no nest, it was not the season.”
“The pest remover who was sent initially was too scared to climb a ladder.
Since you had been told the wasp next was at the edge of the roof of a two storey house this was very odd.
The following day you sent someone who could climb and he did a very good job, but the delay deferred the repair to the roof.”
“They are expensive and wanted to charge again for continued wasp activity because we didn’t report it within 3 weeks. We were away and so it wasn’t possible.”
“Unfortunately we had 2 engineers attend to this job and neither would climb up a ladder to inspect the bees nest. We had to pay another company to attend and treat the nest”
“Phone service and turnaround were v good. However, we had bees and were sad they had to be destroyed (as they apparently embedded in our wall). We chose JG as website claims that you try everything to save bees….but the technician gave the impression he’d never moved a bee in his life, and told me with delight that any bees leaving the area for other nests would contaminate and kill bees in those locations too. I know it’s sometimes unavoidable to destroy a nest but the impression I was left with was that your default is to eradicate, as that is cheaper and much less effort..,”
“They sorted my home's minor mouse problem OK, but my other property with tenants was an administrative disaster. On two occasions the driver could not find a parking place near the house and drove away. I carried on waiting for him and only learned what happened when I phoned the office. And they kept referring to me (a female) as Mr. on their documents in spite of being asked not to.”
Hi Caroline,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
I do apologise for the issues around parking, as you can appreciate the property is in London so parking can be difficult at the best of times. In regards to the documentation, I have since rectified this for you but again please accept my apologies for this.
If you need anything further please do not hesitate to reach out.

“I heartily agree with the criticisms of other reviewers. I wish I not called in this company in a panic - should have read the reviews. I wonder why I can only see favourable reviews on their website? I've spent a lot of money, still have a problem and am on my 5th day of wasting a whole day for a visit that's just been cancelled. The two stars are for the cheerful and friendly staff - it's the system at fault.”
“First visit was fine, called them to treat a wasp issue no issues, afterwards. The problem however persisted, more wasps being seen in premises a week later. So called them a 2nd time, their advice was buy a tin of insecticide. Will never use this service ever again.”
“Expensive, felt pressured to use them and pay from the initial phone call. Later discovered the council would have done the job for a third of the price. After 10 days loads of groggy wasps in the house. Difficult to contact them for a 2nd visit, emails not answered and took ages to get customer services to answer the phone. Told they would not be available for 7 days. They did however send someone in 4 days when I made a fuss. Could do better!”
“Very expensive for the service. If its a small problem shop around as I madr a kneww jerk decision and paid a lot for 5 mins work which I could have done myself in fairness. The chaps who came out were nice, nonetheless.”
“They were able to visit the following day after booking, the technicians were very friendly and understanding and quite thorough in their work. The low rating is due to the cost, they couldn't find a nest so in the end I paid £180 for the technicians to look for a nest and then place two bug bombs in the loft.”
“Just to put my comments into context, they got rid of the wasps. However, I did not price check heir quote sufficiently, and they turned out to be at least twice as expensive as a competitor who subsequently dealt with a similar problem with a neighbour. The "operative" who turned up lacked professionalism in both manner and absence of any protective clothing.”
