“Hi Hortology, while I love your products and your service, I will not be ordering from you again due to the amount of needless packaging. I ordered one medium sized plant pot and received it in a box that would have fitted ten. The padding alone filled up my recycling bin. I do understand that most people probably order more than just one pot but you should have greener packaging available.”

Thank you for taking the time to contact us on this. Unfortunately this is the amount of packaging that is required to ensure our pots arrive intact. Being fragile ceramic they need a sufficient level of cushioning and protection to avoid damage in transit. We have spent a lot of time testing and developing our packaging to ensure this is optimal, both from a protective but also an environmental perspective. Any less and the breakage rate increases significantly, resulting in more packaging to resend a new item to our customer and more fuel to deliver etc. Please be assured our packaging is all made from recycled material and is fully recyclable. Paper cushioning is proven to have more protective qualities that bubble wrap and has less of an environmental impact, hence our decision to use paper rather than plastic. The way it is crimped also created pockets of air, so not as much paper is used as it may appear. We also have a large selection of different box sizes so we can ensure only the smallest possible box size is used without compromising protection. I hope this is useful information for you. “Sorted problem after having received incorrect order as quickly as could have been expected. Plants were in good condition but was dissapointed as to the size of the palm. Ordered a 21 x 100cm yet received a plant closer to a 17 x 60 (this is without including the plant pot in the measurment).”

“I was pleased with plants. However they arrived with one out of its pot, very dry, with broken fronds and the second plant crushed by the other. I didnt think that just an apology was quite good enough, even though it was the fault of DPD delivery.”

“As usual Hortology supplied the best plants in a previous order and wonderful plant pots in my most recent order. The deliveries were extremely well packed, and I didn’t have to wait long (even during the Covid crisis) for them to arrive. I’d definitely recommend Hortology to anyone wanting plants, etc.”

“Unfortunately, my package was not treated well by the courier and my pot arrived broken. However, Hortology's customer service was amazing and immediately dispatched another pot, delivered express, and were utterly sympathetic and professional about the whole situation. The new, unbroken pot is beautiful!”
