I recently had the inspiration to have solar installed and being a Hive customer, was put in touch with Glow Green. Firstly, getting the right quotation was a challenge as the majority of the work is done by the customer, with remote inspections of your property done right up to the point of installation. I still decided to go ahead and trust Hive. The second issue came when the expectations of the customer and payment amounts were not clearly laid out. Despite paying cash not credit, apparently Hive had changed the terms and conditions requiring a large deposit prior to install without informing the customer. Glow Green simply apologised but said I had no choice but to pay or the stock wouldn’t be ordered. Dispite calling Glow Green over eight times for the arrangement of the deposit, I was threatened by email and text that if I failed to pay a percentage before the installation date, I would risk losing my installation (despite having email confirmation that all deposits had been paid and nothing further would be required before the installation day). Needless to say, my “account manager” was none of the sort! Without my own constant intervention, the project would not have happened. So the date for the scaffolding installation approached, only to receive a call from a scaffolder at 8pm to tell me that the installation of the scaffolding was delayed until the day before the solar installers turned up. Given that I was having three roofs installed with solar, I clearly challenged this issue, and with another five phone calls to Glow Green, I was promised this was a mistake. The next thing I knew was that the scaffolders turned up without any notice and without any plans or the right equipment to fit the scaffolding. Clearly, the scaffolding then took a second day to erect with further equipment again without any plans or notice to arrange being onsite. Despite the second day they turned up with two few ladders and simply said that the installation team would have to fend for themselves with just the one ladder. Not exactly a professional installation in my opinion nor should I be told this as the customer. The day of the installation arrived. I must say I was sceptical about having this phased done in a single day, but the solar installer and electrician worked like mad, completing everything without stopping once. I was blown away. The effort that they put in was amazing, and I was really happy with the end result. I was told by the installers that the scaffolding would be removed in five to seven days post-installation in case of any system issues, and given that it blocked two of my doors and walkway, I said I was fine with this as it made sense. It came the day to remove my scaffolding (seven days post-install), and I had zero contact from Glow Green or the scaffolders to tell me when it was being dismantled. Here we go again!!!. I was back on the phone to my project manager and informed after five phone calls that it would be dismantled a few days late. This day arrived, and despite taking time off work and arranging access to my neighbour’s property, they didn’t show, no phone-call or check from Glow Green. I contacted Glow Green myself only to be told the dismantling of the scaffolding would be done nearly one month after the installation date of the solar panels. I was so annoyed as all I had was access to my property garden and two doors use removed for nearly a month. Once again, I had no contact from the scaffolding company, but randomly they decided to turn up completely unannounced and remove the scaffolding at their own pace. Luckily I was working from home. In summary, the project management from Sebastian Owen at Glow Green was shocking throughout from start to finish. The installation team who actually fitted it was amazing they could not have done better in any way. The scaffolding company which was contracted by Glow Green was shocking, such a bad service and the impact to my home was a pure annoyance. Unfortunately, this is now a service that I would never choose again or recommend. I would look for another company for future installations. Disappointing to say but I would highly recommend people don’t use Glow Green as a provider of solar unless you’re happy with miscommunication, chasing them up LOTS, and making lots of phone calls and emails. The only good thing is the end product with Hive. This is certainly not the recommendation that I want to be leaving at the end of the project.

Glow Green claim they cut the middleman - this from the process of quote to installation is actually not the case. They outsource everything. But First - If you are to get solar, do your research and get multiple quotes and visits to your property before going ahead. GG don’t do home visits and in person quotes, nor do they do an in person survey once you accept the initial plan / design of your system - all is done via photos and phone calls. The outsourcing was done using a scaffold company called PVF Scaffolding and the Electrical/Roofer company was Eco-Renewables and they did a sound job. On the price point vs value - I’d say UK solar companies are taking advantage… these systems at cost value are next to nothing, the markup and labour is expensive. Is it to be expected in the UK? Probably. Having said that the long term win is well worth it. And GG were competitive against others. I opted to dig a trench (personally) as I didn’t want the cables nor all the gear on the side of my house but rather in the garage 12m away. GG did not offer to dig this trench or include it in the package. Currently the system is 7kW with a 5kW battery and I’m very content. Update: (going from 4 to 3 stars) Had to drop a star as the scaffolding is still up, handling and damaging my home in this bad weather. The level of communication and correspondence from GG to its 3rd parties and client is horrendous. The solar installation had been completed with the remedial work on the 20th Nov. The scaffolding got taken down the 10th Dec. - Apparently there was no to little or even complete communication between the 3rd parties as there was apparently still pending work to be done that was already completed on the 20th Nov. Outrageous! Better correspondence is to be had with all parties involved. Would I recommend GG? Sure!

Glow Green are an absolute joke of a company, stay well away from them. I have boiler insurance with Utility Warehouse and when an engineer came to service my boiler I was told I needed a new boiler because some of the parts that were needed were obsolete due to the age of the boiler. Utility Warehouse then put me in touch with Glow Green. What an absolute joke of a company. An engineer and his daughter came out to start fitting the new boiler last Thursday, then spent 4 hours in my house doing whatever they had to do and then left at 2.30pm telling my daughter in law they would be back the following day to commission the boiler, I was in work so I didn’t speak to them. They didn’t inform us we would have no gas to the oven, no hot water and no heating. The engineer and his daughter then didn’t turn up on Friday, despite 12 telephone calls to Glow Green I am still sitting here on Sunday with no gas to the oven, no hot water and no heating. It is the middle of winter and I have a 7 month old baby in the house. Glow Green do not care about this. Is there somewhere I can go to complain about this. Surely Glow Green have a legal responsibility to get my heating and hot water back on within a certain time and can’t just leave us 4 days without gas 🤬🤬🤬

From start to finish the team at glow green have been fantastic. They ask if you have a preference as to the make of boiler you are looking for and they are knowledgeable about it too. Just what you need from the customer care team. Delivery of the boiler and parts was super fast although we did have a slight issue with fitting(few missed appointments)they are compensating us with this so no complaints Michael was our installer and he was very efficient and extremely tidy. He did a fantastic job and explained how to use it when he finished. We had a courtesy call the next day to check we were happy and we are, very much recommend glow green to everyone. I found this company by chance on facebook and I firmly believe they were an answer to my prayer. A few weeks earlier my boiler had stopped working and my family and I had to live without heating or hot water for over a month. Not the best situation to be in during an increasingly cold and wet autumn! Not being able to afford a new boiler I started panicking and looking at credit card transfers etc. After a while I literally started praying and that’s when I saw Glow Green’s ad on facebook. I decided to fill in their short form and 10 minutes later I got a call back from a lovely man who explained everything really clearly to me, including information about finance options. Within 30 minutes I had a quote from Glow Green which I was happy with and I was able to take advantage of their buy now pay later scheme. They came to fit my boiler a week later and, in spite of there being extra unexpected work involved to complete the installation, I was extremely happy with the whole process. As stated in their agreement this did not incur any extra costs and I will only have to pay the price originally quoted to me. Glow Green is an excellent company. Their customer service is brilliant. They kept me informed every step of the way, before and after the delivery and subsequent fitting. In summary, I felt very looked after by them. This is the first time I have felt this positive about a company. If you are in any doubt, please don’t hesitate. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Completely disgusted with the way I have been treated without heat and hot water since Friday it is now Sunday night and still don't know when engineer is coming we are both in 80 and have been with you a long while just not good enough am told we will call you back but never do hope to hear from someone Monday

First thing we experienced with “GLOW GREEN “is that every one in various departments is extremely friendly. They don’t get fed with the questions asked many times over. Second thing’s their engineer tried to do everything with maximum detail & professional. Overall it was a great experience having the job done here & we found them very very competitive.
