“Looked nice and comfortable, unfortunately and quite unexpectedly they stretched after just a week of wear. The upper leather is quite thin. The laces are extremely slippery and keep undoing at the worst possible time.”

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you feel that these shoes have stretched. If they are too roomy inside, an insole may help as this would decrease the area within the shoe creating a more snug fitting for you. With regard to the laces, once you fasten them, you should not need to use them again as you use the zip to take the shoes on and off. Could you maybe firmly secure the laces to hold them in place if they are coming apart? We do hope that you get much more enjoyment from these lovely shoes. Kind regards, Janice - customer services

“Order sent promptly. Need exchange unfortunately but followed instructions to send back, advised 72 hours to process. Currently been over 5 days with no acknowledgement of return as yet.”

“I already have a pair of Gabor trainers size 6 bought last year in John Lewis in Kingston in copper. I ordered the identical trainer so the same size but in red and they did not fit. I could barely get the zip on the left shoe to zip up and it was a bit too tight. On the right shoe it was again too narrow but this time I could not zip up the boot at all! So too risky to buy online if the shoe in theory should fit but does not. I hope you find this helpful.”

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you found your shoes to be smaller than one you had worn previously. They will feel tighter when you first wear them as the leather softens and they mould to your feet, however it should not be so tight that you cannot do up the zip. I am not sure if you have come onto the correct review as this order was for boots. I have had a look at other reviews for the item you did buy and all say well fitting. “Not happy about return policy. Most companies do not charge customers for returning items by post !”

Thank you for your email. We do deliver to customers free of charge and also if an exchange is needed, again cover the cost to you. We do ask customers to cover the cost of return postage. You can return to a Charles Clinkard store, if you pop your post code into our site, you will see that there is one not too far away and you have up to 12 months to return an unworn item for full refund. There is also a link on our website where for £4.49 you produce a label where you can return up to 10 kilo. I do hope that this helps for future reference. Kind regards, Janice - customer services

“The heels were too high. I ordered shoe with a 6 cm heel. That is what the information said about the shoes. In fact the heels were 7 - 71/2 cms high in the actual shoes. I returned them.”

Thank you for your review. The heel of a shoe is measured from the inside from where it reaches the shoe (were your foot is first supported) to the floor and not the outer area. I am sorry if you were unaware of this and that the shoes were too high for you. The Gabor Nesta and also the Gabor Kasi are similar in shape but with a lower heel. “Beautiful boots but I don't feel your wide fit are particular wide. I usually have a normal width fitting but with boots and the need to wear socks with them in the cooler weather you want them wider. Unfortunately they are not much different to your normal width.”

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you feel that the wide fitting is not wide enough for your requirements to wear socks. On a personal level, I find that if I get a half size larger for the winter when I need to keep warm, this allows the extra area within the boots for me to wear socks comfortably. “I was disappointed with the shoes. I have has Gabor shoes in the past and have been very satisfied with them. Both pairs I bought were UK 7. One pair were the right length but too deep. The other pair were far too long on the foot length. I shall be returning them. Obviously buying on line is not an option as your sizing cannot be trusted any more”

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that the shoes that you ordered were not a good fitting for you. One of the pairs that you ordered was a standard fitting and the other was a wide fitting, this may be why you found the 2 pairs to have such a different fit when you tried them on. All refunds are processed within 72 hours of them coming back to us and an email sent to confirm this. We do hope that you find a pair that is a better fit and more comfortable for you. “I thought I purchased the Gabor shoes from Gabor but upon receipt of my shoes seen it was through the Clickard Group! I purchased shoes over £50 & had to pay for the postage if £5.59 for their return . I will not be purchasing again .”

Thank you for your review. Gabor is a German Company and Charles Clinkard shoes, run the Gabor website in the UK. This means that we can offer free postage to UK customers for delivery and keeps their costs low if they do have to return an item as they can be returned to us here in the UK, or they can be returned to a Charles Clinkard store if there is one close to you. Thank you for your review. With regard to returns, we do offer a full year so long as an item is unworn, and you can take them back to any Charles Clinakrd store where they will arrange your refund. Alternatively you can post back second class Royal Mail for around £2.85 and pay 80p more from tracking. You seem to have used a next day premium service which does cost more. There is also a link on our website to collect + where for £4.49 you can get a tracked return label that covers up to 10 kilo so you can return many pairs at one time. Many customers if they need a shoe to be a more roomy fit, get a half size bigger and this gives the extra area within the shoe. It does not work for everyone, but may be worth a try for you. “The shoes came quickly and were beautiful. Sadly they were too big. I hadn't read the small print and returns by post are at the buyer's expense (I don't live near a Charles Clinkard) so it cost me £15 to return them as the regular signed for mail only insures upto £50. I guess I'll look for stores that stock Gabor next time rather than shop online”

“The shoes I ordered were too tight across the foot this was due to the elastic which was mega tight I couldn’t get my foot in it. Also the sizing is a bit haphazard.”

“Disappointing. Not as comfortable as other Gabor shoes I’ve had in the past. Suede is stiff and no cushioning in the sole. Will be returning them.”

“Purchased 2prs Gabor sandals online via Charles Clinkard’s website. Rather nice footwear and a pleasant enough team of customer service staff. However, sizing of Gabor shoes are not your usual UK sizing and this is reflected by a simple chart posted on the C C website. However, even paying notice to this chart doesn’t fully prepare you for the difference. I’m usually a size 5 normal width in UK sizing and so ordered a size 4 so as to cover any anticipated differences. Imagine my surprise on trying them on to find that even the size 4 was too big for me! So, have had to return them at personal cost of a whopping £11 (customer responsible for cost of return postage. Needless to say, I personally shan’t be buying any more shoes online from Clinkards, particularly the Gabor brand. In fact, I shan’t buy Gabor footwear from any other online retailer either. Too high a risk of losing money either in delivery fees or in return fees. Lesson learnt. In future shall only purchase footwear if a retailer has a store near me where I can try on.”

“Love Gabor shoes only ones I order online with confidence I order a 4G they fit every time just taken delivery of a pair of 4G similar style they are too big so having to send them back. 😵‍💫☹️disappointed but will order again somewhen.”

“I bought a pair of Gabor trainers last year - they are extremely comfortable. So, even though the cost of £95 is steep, I felt the comfort was worth the price. However, it was impossible to find another pair in stock in any shops, so I was forced to buy online. I don't like buying shoes online as the fit is so important. Unfortunately the new pair are not as comfortable. I feel the mould must have changed, with less material in the front of the shoe. So, in conclusion, I am disappointed and would only recommend buying in store”
