Good service but very expensive

Disappointed with engineer/mechanic's knowledge & had to assist him & advise process.

Much appreciated, however not too sure that the tank was flush because this same situation happened to my wife a few years ago and the person who came flushed the whole tank. He hooked up his equipment and emptied it. I haven't seen this person on this occasion flushed the tank. And the red filter light came on and is still on. It suggest to me that it was not done properly.

Fella was helpful but didn’t put the parts he took off under the bonnet back on properly, - jubilee clip on the air intake, one of the fuel line hoses, and now missing the shrader valve dust cap.

The person I spoke to on the phone (Michael H) said that in addition to draining the tank, the fuel jets and pipes would have to be cleared and £20 of diesel would be supplied, hence the cost of £440. He also said that I would receive a paper showing warranty and a contact number. The operator who arrived only drained the tank and said it was not necessary to clear the fuel jets and that the person I spoke to was probably new. I think he said that he was putting £10 of diesel in the tank, but as he was speaking i9n broken English I had difficulty in hearing him properly (No fault of his). However, after he put the diesel in, the car computer screen showed there was only 65 miles to an emptty tank. As my car averages over 60mpg it would seem unlikely that £20 was put in. I did not receive a paper showing any warranty details or contact, I only received a receipt and a statement absolving you from any liability for damage that may be caused by your operatives in attempting to rectify the problem, even if the attempt was unsuccessful. Hopefully the fact that the jets etc were not cleared will not cause any future problems. I rated the service good mainly because of the prompt response but feel that what I was told on the phone was not what actually happened

Brilliant service, the chap was very helpful but the price did hurt.

Cost for this service is far too expensive. I took the spark plugs out as my van is 53 years old. Also the fuel filter wasn't changed or were we given a sample of the fuel to take to the garage where we filled up initially. Not happy.
Helpful Report
Experienced engineer who knew how to deal with our unusual double tank but not the best professional behaviour as he lost his temper and had a go at me only to realise he was in the wrong.

I have mixed feelings about the service from Fuel Fixer. The staff all seemed very polite and helpful and the work done after I accidentally put Adblue in the diesel seems to have been done well and my Vito is running smoothly, I have now changed the fuel filter too as advised. But it took several phone calls whilst I was away to sort out and they were not as organised as I expected as the communication with the recovery did not happen and I had to make extra calls. So then the price which was a lot less than Mercedes but was still a lot for what appears to be less than half a days work and to dispose of the fuel which I know is costly but over £1100, I am unsure about how justified this amount is.

The job was completed as stated but far too expensive, I feel that you are profiteering on someone’s misfortune.

Operative who turned up and did the job was first class - no complaints - but I was told 45/50 minutes and waited almost 2 hours - tell me 2 hours at the start and no worries - tell me 50 minutes and by the time the operative turns up I'm irritated - I had a small child with me - knowledge of the timing would have helped no end

Over priced for the work carried out will shop around if this ever happened again

Problem wasn’t fixed

Very effective. Very expensive. Took an Hour to get to our location then another hour to complete the drain. He upsold me on a product for an extra 30 pounds; at a cost of close to 500 pounds, to upsell is unacceptable. Everything should have been included. Finally in the service description it said you would furnish fuel; that’s a vague statement. He did not furnish any fuel. I should have gotten a discount since I had to then fill my vehicle with diesel; if I was not at a fuel station I am guessing I would have been provided with several gallons of diesel so I could get to a gas station. Why did I not then get a discount? Overall I think I was taken advantage of; I will not recommend your service to anyone else.

Company were helpful in a crisis of my own stupid making. I thought the price was very expensive and price quoted did not include the vat. It cost me £418.80 which is way more than other companies so very disappointed the company felt they could rip me off

When we called we did get straight through which was a relief but it didn’t really seem straightforward to find out the price, the agent deducted £100 instantly which was frustrating, you were already in a stressful situation and somebody wants to start bartering, not the best. We were told, we would have to wait 40 minutes which was fine, after 2 1/2 hours of waiting hour engineer arrived . I had already explained that we had three young children and a puppy in the car which made the situation worse. When the engineer did arrive, he was great and dealt with the situation quickly.

It took a long time for them to get to us but we were in a high level traffic area. (2 hours wait) The draining out of the fuel was done but the flushing of the system was complicated for the attendee as he had not dealt with that engine before so it took a lot of phone calls before he could do the flush. Afterwards we had to drive to Europe and the engine was continually missing. We had a garage look at it and the flush had not been carried out well and two wire connections had no been put back correctly. But grateful that we were able to continue on our journey.
Helpful Report
Rather expensive, particularly as was not told that the price did not include Vat until after deposit was paid.

Efficient at sorting the problem However difficult to see how the £500 fee could be justified, given the time the procedure actually took.

Man was on site within 30 minutes, great job was very polite. Back on the road within the hour. Thought £440 plus a full tank of fuel was too expensive. £500 for a error on fuel nozzle.
