“Was lied to to twice by the call centre. Denied what I was promised at the start of the call. Told they play me recording to say they didn’t say what was said, to only play half the recording! Still didn’t get every thing that was promised to me. Was told 20 minutes, took it because it was quicker than other places but more expensive. 45 minutes later guy arrived.”

“Didn’t realise the quote didn’t include VAT so this came as a bit of a shock and no response to my message about it. Made it sound as if they did some sort of special diagnostic check that other companies wouldn’t which was just watching me start the engine after draining the incorrect fuel. But friendly and professional engineer and no problems yet!”

“The gentleman who came out introduced himself immediately, was very friendly and put me at ease. Lovely service from him. Disappointed that I was quoted the price over the phone, was informed that the price included fuel, to later find out the fuel was extra and he hadn't told me, that he hadn't added the VAT. £100 more than quoted. Not great!”

“Fantastic response from initial call handler, helped me out massively. Agent that arrived could have been a bit more personable. No introduction just a tablet shoved at me to sign and 3 minutes of him poking a pipe around my fuel tank then telling me to “put diesel in”. No advice or anything to look out for. £240 most expensive mistake of my life!”

“Like every customer of Fuel Fixer, this was not a service I ever wanted to use, but an oversight on my part led to an AdBlue/diesel contamination. I called Fuel Fixer and it was clear that this needed dealt with as soon as possible due to the chemical reaction this contamination creates. What I was not expecting was a quote of £750 to drain and flush my tank. I voiced my surprise and said that I would need to shop around as this price was unacceptable. A manager came on the line and immediately offered to drop the price to £600, which in hindsight is galling as I could have paid the higher price had I not challenged it. A very nice technician came out, same day, and carried out the drain and flush - no complaints about this service whatsoever. He handed me a small tin of additive which he recommended and told me that would be another £30. Nobody uses this service willingly, as it’s only the result of being in a dire situation. I understand that there is travelling time and cost for the operative, but the initially quoted price of £750 (then another £30 for additive) for an hour’s work, seems unjustifiable, in the knowledge that the customer has little choice but to take action to prevent expensive damage to their vehicle. The only positive that I have taken from this is that I will never make the same mistake again. Fuel Fixer - good at what you do, but there’s no need for it to cost as much as this.”

“My experience started off very badly indeed, no thanks to Steve,who thought it would be a good idea to sabotage my car after me refusing to pay until the job had been completed. Thankfully for me, I had Florin turn up the following day, who I must say was absolutely wonderful. Had Florin turned up originally, I would have given 5 stars.”

“Took longer than quoted to arrive (2.5 hrs when quoted 1 hr). Charged a hefty bill and not sure the engineer did all the receipt said. It mentioned drain and decontamination but the fuel was just drained in a few mins then done no flushing of system or anything, 330 plus vat for the work. Probs could have got cheaper elsewhere but was stranded and desperate as was 240 miles away from home. Bad mistake on my behalf definitely but the service I received didn't seem to match the glowing trust pilot reviews. My mother had died on the Sunday and I'd made a frazzled mistake putting the wrong fuel in to get home. When I explained to the engineer they just made a joke about my mum and didn't explain much about what they were doing like other reviews suggested. I expressed my concerns about the ignition being on or the car not making the long journey home but my questions were shrugged off with it'll be ok. Just expected a bit more compassion and reassurance and to turn up on time for the extortionate price I paid.”

“The person on the phone was good and informative, but the chap who turned up didn't speak English very well. I was told the price would include £20 of fuel but I was left on empty (range of 19 miles) and the light flashing. I was also offered other products for cash by the driver but it didn't seem legit so I declined. Would have been nice to have been left with a bit of fuel.”

“Everything was good. Customer service on the phone the Engineers. But the price £880 for an hours work flushing diesel in and out of the van. I had no choice to pay it after adding Adblue in the diesel tank by mistake.”

We understand that the cost may have come as a surprise, especially in an already stressful situation. AdBlue contamination can be complex and time-sensitive to resolve properly, and our pricing reflects the specialist service, and technician expertise required. It should also be noted that had you taken the van to a dealership or garage, it could have cost a lot more (we've seen quote of £12K to replace all engine parts after an adblue error) and been off the road for a few days.
