Explorer Travel Insurance has been trading since 2011 and specialises in great value Single Trip, Annual Multi Trip, Winter Sports, Cruise and Backpacker travel insurance.

Buy direct and choose from up to 5 levels of cover with the added peace of mind that all policies are underwritten by Allianz (the world's largest insurer) and include gadget and cruise cover as standard.

We are based in Westcliff on Sea, Essex and are very proud of the excellent levels of service we provide to our customers both online and by our friendly and professional sales advisors. We don't have a maximum age limit for single trip policies and can offer cover for customers with, or without, pre-existing medical conditions.

“We called you whilst on holiday to report a lost mobile phone whilst Trekking in Sweden. We purchased a specific 'Explorer' Insurance Policy to ensure we would receive sufficient cover whilst on holiday and cover every eventuality. When we spoke with one of your customer advisers we were met with uncertainty about what our policy actually covered and a request to provide a police report regarding the lost phone! ... To which I explained the phone was 'Lost' whilst in the Swedish Wilderness and this was not possible! Following this I asked how much we would actually be covered for if I did provide this information, I was told £175 with a £75 excess - Which would clearly not covered a quarter of the price of a modern mobile phone. This policy is clearly out dated and we very much regret taking out the policy with you and giving you our business. If you require further detail please do not hesitate to contact me directly.”

“Bought online through Medical Travel compared at a reasonable premium. Documents provided by email, Unable to review their service as holiday not yet taken and we fervently hope we will not need to contact Explorer and have anything to review!.”

“We have had to make a claim as my wife's mobile phone was stolen in Peru. It takes on average about 40 minutes to get through on the phone and then you never get the correct person to deal with our claim. We put our claim in around the 5 June , got a reference number and have got no further despite numerous calls. Their customer service is none existent as soon as they have taken your money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IN CASE YOU ARE UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NEED TO MAKE A CLAIM!”

“Fortunately, I didn't require assistance but felt reassured and will book again in December for my next trip. I had aready used Explorer Travel before this last trip which again was reassuring to know that you were there to assist if I encountered any problems.”

“I have chose Explorer Travel Insurance for the last few years. This site is easy to use and the prices for preexisting medical conditions are good in comparison to other insurers. Lucky I haven't had to make a claim so can't comment on the claims side.”

“After several years dealing with you I was shocked to be treated poorly when i had to report that my wife had developed a chest infection after taking out Travel Insurance on a previous occasion. Having spent £101 was told cover would be an additional £300 which i refused so you took off all declared Medical Conditions. This has now been resolved The Medical conditions re instated at a an additional cost of £20 so £120 in total . The issue is with the Middle persons attitude which could have been more forgiving as the circumstances were always going to be resolved . Will i use you again ,not sure at this point in time as i am still very cross .”
