I paid ECU Testing £695.49 on 10th June… I paid ECU Testing £695.49 on 10th June 2025 for a “no fault rebuild by request” of my DQ200 Mechatronic unit. The unit was returned to me on 12th June — completely broken, with signs of shady adhesive used on the sensor leg. The repair was not only faulty but dangerous. I reported the issue within one hour by phone, and followed up with emails on 13th June demanding either a refund or a working replacement. Instead, ECU Testing offered only to “send it back for investigation” — with no guarantee of refund, repair or replacement, despite the fact that I paid for a professional fixing service. Their own email initially acknowledged the glue might be theirs, but later denied responsibility. I provided evidence, and they refused accountability. I’ve now had to start a chargeback process via Monzo. The law is clear under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: if a paid service results in a faulty product, I’m entitled to a refund or guaranteed fix — not an open-ended investigation while I suffer the consequences. So far, I’ve received no solution, no working part, and no refund. Just wasted time, stress, and a broken car. I strongly advise others to avoid this company, especially if you expect proper service or honest aftercare.

I was lucky to find RANGEPRO.ORG. They are experts in helping investment fraud victims. Their team acted fast. They gave me resources and advice. This support guided me in getting my money back RANGEPRO.ORG was transparent. Their professional approach made a tough situation manageable. For example, they explained the legal steps clearly. They also helped me gather important documents. I regained my hard-earned savings because of them. This experience taught me a painful lesson. I now know to be very careful when investing online. It is vital to check investment options thoroughly. Always seek advice from trusted sources before investing any money.

I am a very frustrated customer. I sent my ecu for repairs. They said no faults found. I paid 45 pounds for testing which is , ok. They shipped off my ecu under a company name I do not know or own. I spoke to David Michael., John all are friendly and willing to assist but they do not understand the problem they created. The waybill is not in my name its in a company name therefore I must produce a importers code and VAT number. AFTER MANY EXPENSIVE PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS NO JOY. NOW the part will be moved to a government warehouse. Is ECU TESTING going to replace my ecu? I started with so much faith in them but sadly is disappointed.

The initial 'repair' was done in December 2022 job no:1671540997499. A fault identified by ECU was 'rectified'for some £600.00.The mechatronic was returned damaged! It was returned and 'rectified'. The unit failed same fault after little use. Unit was returned in August 2023 under the "lifetime guarantee". Failed yet again. ECU want me to pay for yet another removal and refit at a cost of some £250.00!! Refused a test by VW dealer! They have refused all reasonable requests and appear to think that it should be at my cost to continually remove and refit the unit they have not correctly repaired!! Sadly now Legal Action! ECU are now claiming that they tried to call me once but were unable to either speak with me or leave a message. No other attempts by ECU to contact me to resolve have been made. Very poor after service over many weeks. The facts are that ECU's "lifetime" repair after two attempts has again failed after little use and they want me to incur yet more expense. Do not use this company.

The courier company they use does not operate at the times provided on their order form. I picked a time after work so I didn't have to take time off, part of the reason I chose this company. But however false as they offer times that are not available with their chosen courier. When picked up I heard nothing from them confirming receipt or giving a rough time for work to begin. After near 2 weeks I rang them to be told that they had tested and found no problems or issues with my ABS module, but that they advised me to have a full refurb. The next day got a txt to say it was being delivered to me, only to recieve a call later that day to ask me for my address. I was then told again that it was out for delivery to me. When recieved it was packaged poorly I would not recommend this company to anyone, the communication is below poor, and they are clearly out to make money off people by advising people to do unnecessary work when there's no issue present.

This is my genuine recent experience from March and April 2023. I had an ABS pump from a Skoda Octavia with a fault code 01130 that ECU Testing advertise as being a common fault and able to repair. I arranged for them collect it, but after two days of a scheduled collection, DHL had not collected the pump and so I had no choice but to drive the 120 miles round trip with the pump to ECU testing. Three days later ECU Testing contacted me to say the pump had been repaired, and so not trusting the courier service they were providing I drove to collect it. The pump was fitted back onto the car and the same fault was still present and so I contacted ECU Testing. They told me that there must be an issue with the car such as wiring or fuses as they had definitely repaired the pump, and so I took the car back to the auto electrician who had initially diagnosed the ABS fault and he again checked everything on the car and confirmed it was definitely the ABS pump that was still faulty, and so I again contacted ECU Testing. At this stage I have to say there attitude was less than professional and they really were not interested. They were very dismissive and never offered to look at the pump again. I asked them for a copy of the workshop report to show what had actually been done to repair the pump. Finally after 5 days they emailed me an A4 sheet of paper that was nothing short of a joke that explained absolutely nothing. Alarm bells were starting to ring that this company had not even bothered to try and repair the pump. They had basically done a standard bench test, could not find a fault and decided to charge £240 for the privilege. By this stage the vehicle had been off the road for almost 3 weeks, and ECU Testing were making no offer to collect the pump and attempt to repair it again. I emailed them on several occasions asking them to collect and repair the pump, even writing to the managing director Mr RG Bagg, who did not even bother to reply. I then wrote them a 7 day notice letter asking them to repair the pump or issue a refund. They responded by stating that if I provided a third party invoice to prove that the pump was still faulty and that I had had the pump repaired elsewhere then they would refund me. I contacted several companies that repair ABS pumps and the problem was that as soon as I mentioned ECU Testing, the majority of companies refused to look at the pump. Finally I found a company in Leicester who collected the pump and within 5 days it was repaired and returned to me, and for the same price ECU Testing had charged me. Fitted the pump to the car and everything was fine. Having still not received a refund from ECU Testing I had to threaten them with court action before they finally issued a refund. A simple straight forward repair that should have taken less than a week, actually took 6 weeks in the end, thanks to ECU Testing Ltd, plus all the additional costs I incurred because of ECU Testing that I cannot claim back. I have been in the motor trade for 30 years and have come across some fairly poor companies with lackluster attitudes in my time, but this company has really taken me aback and shocked me at how bad they really are. I blame myself partly because I have heard previous bad reports about them, and if I had taken the time to read some of the reviews posted online by other customers who have had similar experiences to me, then I definitely would not have gone anywhere near them. Hopefully my experience will act as a warning to others. Please folks do not go through what I went through. AVOID ECU TESTING

Hi Darren, We take customer feedback very seriously and therefore I would like to clarify some points that you have raised, you mention that our attitude was less than professional and that we really weren’t interested and that we were very dismissive and never offered to look at the pump again, this is not true. We spoke to you on four separate occasions whereby we offered to get the part collected from you and retest this under our terms and conditions however you mentioned that you thought it be best to drop this down as you didn’t want to risk getting this lost in the post, despite these conversations you never brought the unit back to us. You also mention that we had not bothered to try and repair the pump again this is not true. I would like to also clarify that we did not refund you based on you threatening court action, you had technically voided your warranty sending this to a 3rd party without giving us the opportunity to even retest the unit. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Many thanks, Karen

On the first occasion that we have found a need to put their "lifetime warranty" to the test we have been let down badly. Even after clearly explaining the faulty previously repaired unit was from another source 4 years previous and having sought permission from that repairing garage and copy of V5 from owner we were refused repair under warranty! After agreeing to repair, once the unit was received we were told no as the last owner had died!

Hi all at Andy Hall Cars Ltd, Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to read that you are unhappy. Our lifetime warranty policy is strictly only with the owner of the vehicle, the only way that the warranty can be transferred is if we get written confirmation from the original purchaser to say they are happy for the warranty to be transferred, unfortunately, due to the circumstances this is not something that could be done on this occasion. Kind Regards Karen

They sent my fiat 500 clock cluster back to me with the menu button broken, but it was then stuck back on by them BADLY because it was hanging on a thread in the sealed plastic bag and undamaged box it was returned to me. I straight away took photos in the box and sealed bag and sent them straight back for their attention as they requested, I was told via their chat line they would contact me the next day !!!! despite me calling back and talking on their chat line THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME AT ALL. I had to buy a new unit at £40.00 and never got any help after spending £250.00 with them

I really have no idea how this company got any 5 star reviews, as I cannot even get them to answer my question as to what was wrong with my Speedometer Cluster that I sent to them for repair. They simply said it was faulty and then requested payment that I already paid. It is now in the mail being shipped back. They charged me full price and never even said what was wrong and now no longer returns emails. Terrible customer service!!! Hopeful that it actually works when I get it back, but not convinced that they even did anything to it??? I will update when I know more.

Hi all at Earls Barton Autos, It is unfortunate that you feel this way. I can see from the job record that the unit tested without failure for pressure and leak tests and functioned accordingly, but it is great to see that you have solved the issue on the vehicle. Many thanks, Lee

Hi Terry, It is very unfortunate that you are unhappy with our services. I can see that the ABS unit originally tested as faulty and we proceeded with a rebuild to cure the fault. After rebuilding the ABS, a full end of line Hardware-In-the-Loop test was carried out, which the unit passed. It is certainly upsetting when there are multiple failures on a vehicle, but we are pleased to see that you now have them all sorted. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further please call us on +441773 535 638 or email us info@ecutesting.com Many thanks, Lee

Please read the genuine google reviews before even thinking about touching this company. They lie & are incapable of doing the job. I Sent my focus instrument cluster to them with random lights coming on, they sent it back "repaired" with a new fault of the immobiliser flashing so could not start. Sent it back to them & got it back "repaired & rebuilt" with a new fault of it going dead 10 secs after you plug it in. Sent back to them & they now inform me its "unrepairable" and want more money for a new unit. Turnaround first time was terrible and way outside the promised 3 days. Have just spoken to them and asked what they were going to do about my out of pocket expenses and time wasted they said they would do nothing so i said "so what you are saying to me is tough s**t?" Employees response was"YES". Direct quote and i have the recording to prove it. Is this really a company you want to trust? If you make any bad reviews you will see the same bull replies. Please go somewhere else and save yourself the hassle and expense. They come up as the cheapest company for a reason people, you pay peanuts you get monkeys as the saying goes.

Absolute waste of money. They won't repair it but they can sell you a replacement. Claimed my dashboard cluster had water damage and couldn't be repaired I checked before I sent it, it was a sealed unit with no sign of moisture. Sold me a new one but claimed it couldn't be coded because the old one was too damaged despite it still operating the car before it was sent.

Hi Daniel, I am sorry to hear that we could not make you happy. However, I would like to address the accuracy/truthfulness of your review. When you booked your unit into us you provided us with the following fault information (wrote yourself and time/date stamped on your job record) which appears to be at complete odds with your review about operability of your dashboard before sending it to us: ———————————————————— “Fault Info: Originally the bottom left display was pixelated. Then intermittent cluster failure. It used to work every now and then But now it doesn't work at all. Is the fault intermittent: No Have you checked for fault codes: Yes Can you communicate with the component: No Are there any fault codes stored: No” ———————————————————— I did call you to discuss your feedback however you terminated the call before I had chance to discuss, so here is the description of the fault with your dashboard in full... We plugged into your instrument cluster via diagnostics and there was no communication just some illumination which was conducive with your reported faults, upon opening the unit we noticed during the visual inspection that the circuit board had a substantial amount of fluid ingress around some of the main components however this was too severe to be fixed and therefore this rendered your unit as irreparable. Due to the severity of the ingress we couldn’t code swap from your original to the replacement due to the unit having no communication and therefore informed you this would require programming using dealer level diagnostic equipment. You also mention in your feedback that the unit was still operating the car prior to sending it into us however you have clearly mentioned in your fault description that it didn’t work at all. I have emailed you some images of the ingress in the original unit. If you would like to discuss this further please don’t hesitate to contact me on 01773 535638 Best Regards Karen

Hi all at Mannor Garage, We have reviewed our packing footage and can confirm that the unit was sufficiently packaged before dispatch from our premises. We always recommend checking any parcel for damage before signing any courier delivery, as once signed you agree that it has arrived in good condition which removes any recourse from the courier. Thank you, Lee
