Picked the insurance I needed, after spending hours on line and the phone, could not pay for it. Utter shambles.

I very carefully made sure all my details that I entered into the search engine were accurate, but they were not passed on accurately to the insurance provider, and I had to pay £250 more as a result. This didn't happen only once. I cancelled the first policy because I thought I wasn't covered,resulting more charges, and re-entered my details again, but on purchasing the second policy, the same thing had happened. So I reentered my details multiple times, and each time inaccuracies occurred. So your search engine is either not working properly, or you are deliberately misrepresenting people's details, which would be criminal activity.

Some common reasons why the price may have changed can be changes to the payment method (monthly vs annually), adding optional extras to the quote or upgrading the cover level to a higher option. It’s worth double checking if you have made any changes like these or similar to these. If no changes were made, the insurer will be able to investigate this for you and provide a resolution.
