“Lovely chocolate dinosaur egg, kids loved the dinosaurs and fossils inside. Only disappointment was that most fossils and dinosaurs were dark chocolate which the children didn’t like, maybe I didn’t read description properly, a shame in a milk chocolate egg.”

Thank you! Kids and grown-ups love our dino eggs and with milk, white and dark chocolate, there's something for everyone! Each egg is handmade, starting with the outer layer of the shell creating a mottled egg effect which is achieved by stippling white & milk chocolate. The shell is then built up with layers of our 45% Venezuela origin milk chocolate, and each half studded inside with mini dark & white chocolate dinosaurs & ammonites. Finally the two halves are hand-sealed, secreting the surprises inside. It was winner of top marks (5/5) in the Telegraph taste test of the best kids' Easter eggs published online March 10th 2021.

“Delicious selection of chocolates and centres. My only niggle was a couple of chocolates (hazelnut chocolate) seemed more like plain rather than milk chocolate. That said would purchase again.”

Thank you, we're really glad that you enjoyed your Milk Chocolate selection. Interestingly, the chocolate that you mention is our Hazelnut Gem which is made with our 65% Madagascar origin Mega Milk chocolate. This very special milk chocolate contains a lot more cocoa than many other milk chocolates, and more than a lot of dark chocolates as well! It is one of the vanguards of a new type of high cocoa & low sugar milk chocolate, sometimes also known as "dark" milks. With 65% cocoa solids and 27% milk, this is a milk chocolate bar with very little added sugar - just 8% in fact! If you think about that for a minute, that is less sugar than in a 70% dark chocolate (that contains 30%) & you would have to get to bars containing 85% cocoa or more to get to similar levels of sugar....wow! However, you would never know that you are eating milk chocolate with so little sugar as the higher-than-normal amount of milk in this bar softens the intensity of the cocoa & gives this chocolate a wonderful creaminess. If that wasn't enough, this chocolate is produced from bean to couverture (chocolate for us to work with) in Madagascar by Chocolaterie Robert, so it is what is known as Raisetrade chocolate as it is contributing more to the local economy as they are exporting an added value product rather than the commodity product of dried cocoa beans.

“The chocolates I know are lovely, but I’ve since found out that they never arrived! I left it late to review as the person who I sent them to has only just informed me. However, Chococo made every effort to trace the delivery and the post office has clearly mislaid them.”

“The chocolates were superb as always however can you please send them out in a plain outer box. these were a present for my wife but she took them in from the courier and the outer packaging had your logo all over it which spoilt the surprise.”

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, and we're thrilled that you love our chocolates. Our 'Chocs Away' email that we send when your order is despatched does let you know that the postal box is branded so that you can get to the front door first if it is a surprise. We took advice from our business mentors, who have vast experience in managing online businesses, and they recommended that our boxes should be branded to show pride in our brand. This is in line with many other premium businesses, especially in the food and drink sector, that have branded boxes.

“Order and delivery of large box of award winners dealt with very efficiently and pleasantly by Roz. Before ordered queried diversion between email and website re £5 discount on first purchase, and no weights being quoted on site for boxes of chocolates. Both queries clarified-discount applied to first spend OVER £25 not £35, no weights quoted as individual chocolates weight varies as hand made. Think a total weight range should still be shown.. Size of individual chocolates of the same type was somewhat variable. Pictures of box and chocolates contained on site make them appear larger than they are, think box size could be quoted. Chocolates sit too deep in cardboard separators to be easily accessed, perhaps the brown paper container could have a tab to pull. However quality of chocolates was excellent, in no way run of the mill. The sort of chocolates you only need to eat 2 of at a time, being very satisfying, gourmet, a high cocoa content, with distinctive centres. So though not cheap, you are getting value for money, and a product not to be compared with bog standard chocolate boxes. Worked well as a congratulatory gift to our daughter, thankyou.”

“Superb (in fact sublime) tasting chocolates. There wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy - although some favourites did emerge! The website could do with improvement however - it's rather clunky and frustrating to use - although persevering is definitely worth it! Similarly, it is hard to extract some of the chocolates from the box - and I didn't notice the slip of paper inside suggesting the removal of the dividers until I'd already put my finger through a couple of chocolates!”

“Chocolates excellent but beware that use by dates of some chocolates can be short when allowing for delivery. In my case I feared that they would bevunsuitable for a birthday gift later this month. Emailed Chococo who explained that these were from their fresh range but would freeze without issue. Birthday issues resolved. Good customer service.”

Thank you. We do try to make it as clear as possible on our website that our fresh chocolates need to be eaten quickly, and you can always choose a future preferred delivery date if you want to order early for delivery later. Glad that we were able to resolve your issues.

“Wonderful service. My only criticism would be, I was ordering for a present for my wife, and the box comes emblazoned with ‘Chococo’ on the outer packaging. She said to say that she “loved the chocolates””

“As this was a gift subscription I think you should improve your data capture so that the gift recipient receives the 'how was it?' and survey emails as they would be in a better position to answer.”

Thank you for your feedback. As you will appreciate, subscription orders can be experienced by one person (who purchases a subscription for themselves), or two people (when the subscription is purchased by one person as a gift for another). In the gifting instance, there's one person buying the subscription - they can review their experience of the ordering process on our website, the communications received about the order and perhaps our Customer Care team if there was any need to contact them. Hearing about this is as important as hearing about the chocolate experience. Then there's the gift recipient receiving and eating the chocolate - they can review their experience of the delivery, the packaging and the chocolate itself (the more physical elements). Sadly our system isn't sophisticated enough at the moment to recognise one from the other, so the review request is sent to the person placing the order, and we currently only have one email address field which is used by the person placing the order. We're only a small team here, we're doing our best :-)

So glad that you loved the Squidgy Pecan Brownie and everything went well with delivery. Shame about the house dark chocolate, but we have so many different varieties to try - from gold to milk and different varieties of dark chocolate up to 100% - there's something for every taste.
