“The chocolates were superb as always however can you please send them out in a plain outer box. these were a present for my wife but she took them in from the courier and the outer packaging had your logo all over it which spoilt the surprise.”

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, and we're thrilled that you love our chocolates. Our 'Chocs Away' email that we send when your order is despatched does let you know that the postal box is branded so that you can get to the front door first if it is a surprise. We took advice from our business mentors, who have vast experience in managing online businesses, and they recommended that our boxes should be branded to show pride in our brand. This is in line with many other premium businesses, especially in the food and drink sector, that have branded boxes.

Thanks for your review and sorry you found the Mango & Passionfruit a bit disappointing, however they are proving very popular with both customers and chocolate judges alike as they just won a silver in the British craft chocolatier competition of this year’s International Chocolate Awards! “Order and delivery of large box of award winners dealt with very efficiently and pleasantly by Roz. Before ordered queried diversion between email and website re £5 discount on first purchase, and no weights being quoted on site for boxes of chocolates. Both queries clarified-discount applied to first spend OVER £25 not £35, no weights quoted as individual chocolates weight varies as hand made. Think a total weight range should still be shown.. Size of individual chocolates of the same type was somewhat variable. Pictures of box and chocolates contained on site make them appear larger than they are, think box size could be quoted. Chocolates sit too deep in cardboard separators to be easily accessed, perhaps the brown paper container could have a tab to pull. However quality of chocolates was excellent, in no way run of the mill. The sort of chocolates you only need to eat 2 of at a time, being very satisfying, gourmet, a high cocoa content, with distinctive centres. So though not cheap, you are getting value for money, and a product not to be compared with bog standard chocolate boxes. Worked well as a congratulatory gift to our daughter, thankyou.”

“Superb (in fact sublime) tasting chocolates. There wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy - although some favourites did emerge! The website could do with improvement however - it's rather clunky and frustrating to use - although persevering is definitely worth it! Similarly, it is hard to extract some of the chocolates from the box - and I didn't notice the slip of paper inside suggesting the removal of the dividers until I'd already put my finger through a couple of chocolates!”

“Chocolates excellent but beware that use by dates of some chocolates can be short when allowing for delivery. In my case I feared that they would bevunsuitable for a birthday gift later this month. Emailed Chococo who explained that these were from their fresh range but would freeze without issue. Birthday issues resolved. Good customer service.”

Thank you. We do try to make it as clear as possible on our website that our fresh chocolates need to be eaten quickly, and you can always choose a future preferred delivery date if you want to order early for delivery later. Glad that we were able to resolve your issues.

“Wonderful service. My only criticism would be, I was ordering for a present for my wife, and the box comes emblazoned with ‘Chococo’ on the outer packaging. She said to say that she “loved the chocolates””

We do let you know that our box is branded in our 'Chocs Away' email when your order is despatched so that you can get to the front door first if it is a surprise. There's always the option of delivering to a different address if you can't sneak them in at home.

“As this was a gift subscription I think you should improve your data capture so that the gift recipient receives the 'how was it?' and survey emails as they would be in a better position to answer.”

Thank you for your feedback. As you will appreciate, subscription orders can be experienced by one person (who purchases a subscription for themselves), or two people (when the subscription is purchased by one person as a gift for another). In the gifting instance, there's one person buying the subscription - they can review their experience of the ordering process on our website, the communications received about the order and perhaps our Customer Care team if there was any need to contact them. Hearing about this is as important as hearing about the chocolate experience. Then there's the gift recipient receiving and eating the chocolate - they can review their experience of the delivery, the packaging and the chocolate itself (the more physical elements). Sadly our system isn't sophisticated enough at the moment to recognise one from the other, so the review request is sent to the person placing the order, and we currently only have one email address field which is used by the person placing the order. We're only a small team here, we're doing our best :-)

So glad that you loved the Squidgy Pecan Brownie and everything went well with delivery. Shame about the house dark chocolate, but we have so many different varieties to try - from gold to milk and different varieties of dark chocolate up to 100% - there's something for every taste.

“The recipients of the chocolate selections I have sent have loved them. However, on the last 2 I sent, the gift cards I had filled out were omitted so the recipients did not know who sent them! I like the fact that a portion of the cost goes to the endangered orangutans.”

We've had a quick check of your last order and there were no gift messages, so perhaps you forgot to hit the save button. “The chocolate arrived in time for Easter. It was pretty and different. The flavour of the chocolate was lacking though. Dark chocolate needed more bitterness.”

Thank you, we're pleased it all went well and looked good. Our house dark chocolate has flavour notes of earthy raisin and a hint of mellow coffee, but its natural bitterness is offset in the Dark Chocolate Agave Honeycombe Studded Easter Egg by the sweetness of the agave honeycombe chunks.

“The Easter eggs we ordered were very tasty and the designs were excellent. Unfortunately, the packaging wasn't sufficiently protective, as they had both broken into several pieces in transit. But the taste was good so that's the main thing! I appreciated the lack of plastic packaging but in future, I think some cardboard would be better than relying on paper packaging alone.”

Thank you, we're so glad you enjoyed your Easter eggs despite their less-than-perfect appearance. We're sorry to hear about the damage. This is disappointing, and certainly not how we want our lovely chocolate to arrive. We have used our plastic-free packaging format now for a couple of years with only a tiny number of issues which are more to do with how the eggs are handled in transit rather than the fault of the packaging, but we take on board your suggestion about the cardboard. Thanks for your feedback.

“The quality was great I just felt like for the price of an egg on the smaller side that 13 pounds was on the expensive side, I understand paying more for responsibly sourced cocoa and handmade better quality stuff but the price difference towards similarly sized items is so big that its hard to get that comparison out of your head and turn buying this sort of thing to a common no brainer from an occasional every now and then treat”

You're right, it is a no brainer. Raisetrade, responsibly sourced, palm-oil free, slavery-free chocolate that is handcrafted, hand-decorated and hand-packed into plastic-free recyclable packaging = much better quality stuff, and much better for people and the planet too.
