“Would have give it 5 but paid for quicker postage and not got it. I’m 5’9” slim 11stone dead, bout medium fits like a glove, probably could get a liner in for added warmth come winter, we’ll see”

Thank you for your informative review. As you ordered your jacket at 7.27pm on Thursday it counted as a Friday dispatch. Next working day means you would receive your jacket on Monday, which you did so although we understand your expectation was not met we did meet our obligation. “Great jacket. Barbour International Duke. Fast dispatch. The only flaw, DPD. Incompetent and useless service. Very poor.”

“Shoes, quick service and price are all great. Delivery by DPD was frustrating as not able to change the time or specify a place to leave the parcel and the notification was only 4 hours before delivery.”

“Item arrived when advised however too big so send straight back however over a week later I am still waiting for the refund, £177.65 is alot of money to be waiting for, especially this time of year & in the current climate. I have rated good for the delivery only, unacceptable for the rest of my experience. Hopefully I will hear something soon. Sarah-Jayne”

Unfortunately due to the postal strikes, it took quite a while to get back to us and we can only begin the refund process when the goods actually arrive back with us. “Very good communication,status of delivery and very helpful staff on the phone. Delivery by DPD was, as usual, flawless. Unfortunately, my initial order (Barbour Sapper Large) was enormous. I'm a 44 inch chest and 6feet tall. So, i ordered a size Medium, hoping the roominess of the first would equate to a better fit, but alas the Medium was far too small. I don't think that Charles Hobson was at fault at all, just the crazy, irrational sizing of this model of Jacket. I'll be returning the medium jacket too. After all of this i'm without a jacket and down £40+ with delivery charges.”

We were sorry to hear of the sizing issues you found with the Barbour Sapper jacket. It is generally considered large to size. “Very good service. The only downside was the pattern delivered wasn't the one I ordered and doesn't match the jacket it's a liner for which is a little annoying as it was the correct lining of the website.”

“I purchased a new Barbour wax jacket from CH and the online sales service was prompt and very competitively priced. The only negative is related to the manufacturer - I ordered a size larger than I would usually purchase [as instructed on CH’s web site]. I’m not an especially large man but the fitting, especially over the chest & shoulders, is very neat to the point where movement is partially restricted – hopefully the jacket will break in eventually. However, the manufacturer needs to review its size protocols as the actual size of the “XXL” jacket is more like “L” to “XL” for most other manufacturers.”

We're sorry to hear that the fit of your jacket wasn't great - we try to advise best we can, but we completely understand your frustration. Barbour jackets in particular don't tend to follow one strict size guide and all vary to differing degrees, which of course makes it incredibly difficult to know what to recommend sometimes. “Sorry to have to write this. Coat was very good price, Delivery was great, on time the next day, well packaged with return labels. Coat was good quality and fitted well. However the lining had several what looked like short straight dog hairs which wouldn’t brush off and had to be picked off, we don’t have a dog, I’m sorry for this revue but you did ask.”

We do inspect all items when they are returned back to us, but something here has clearly slipped the net, and for that we are truly sorry.
