“We love Bob Books. The quality of the product is always of a high standard, and it helps us to create a permanent home for our most treasured pictures. We're no photographers and everything is done on smart phones these days, but somehow the result always looks quite professional once everything is in a Bob Book. The interface is simple enough to use, although not glitch free. For example, it isn't always simple, or indeed possible, to get photos to appear in frames. There are so many formatting options however, that there is always a work around and it certainly wouldn't put me off coming back to the site.”

“The way you put the book together is fairly straightforward. Putting photos and text in was no more complicated than using a word processor. I did not try any of the other features. You had to search a bit to find out how big they would be in the finished book to avoid getting them too big or small. The finished book arrived well packaged and is pleasing in appearance. The front and back covers have curled outwards slightly (even though stored flat).”

“A strong editing platform to create and design books from your own content. Most of the editor software is intuitive and user friendly with more options added over time. Quite like the variety of formats available to choose from in terms of paper choice, hard and soft cover, additional imagery and graphics etc. Good process to create photo albums in, in an age when digital take over.”

“The book was easy to create and did not disappoint when it arrived. The only problem I recall was the checkout system and trying to identify where to insert a discount code which I never found, I tried twice! The cost was similar to other services though. I think I may still have something in the basket but it was a bit confusing. However I plan to use Bobs books again with another book soon and have recommended them.”

“The Bob Books service personnel Benjamin, Sinead, Jordan and Fiona were most helpful in helping me to get the software to work on my computer and also regarding an order which didn't exactly match the website ordering criteria. I wanted three copies of a book with videos in, so I only needed to pay once for the video storage. Delivery of my order was very quick.”

“I am less happy with this book. Previous books I have published have been brighter with better representation of my photographs. In this book my photos are darker than they should be, it’s disappointing. On the cover, the lower case descenders have been cut off and I didn’t receive a warning prior to publishing. The Bob books app is intuitive and therefore really easy to use, but my previous Bob books have reproduced much better than this one.”

“Great service, initially I was disappointed that my photo book was very dark, contacted customer services who suggested I sent the book back for them to check out and provided me with a prepaid returns slip. On receiving the book they kept me informed about what was happening and reprinted the book which I received quickly. Now very pleased with my book great memories of an amazing holiday.”

“I was pleased with the final book but I would have liked a 8 x 81/2" size. I found the photo editor offered me the flexibility I require when producing a book. Although the company should post more up to date demo videos.”

“The quality of the large square book I ordered is very good, the hard cover and binding is excellent. The reason for the downgrade of my rating is that the presentation box I ordered was not included in the shipment so I had to email to request it - however my complaint was swiftly dealt with. I shall have no hesitation ordering from Bob Books again.”

“It took me a little while to get used to but pleased with the resultant book. My real frustration was that the system stopped and had to reconnect frequently, every time I used it. Sometimes it would happen every 5 to 10 minutes. I do not know whether this was my system or yours. Certainly I have not experienced such problems before.”

“I selected the fold flat book with a gloss finish as I love the fact that you can lay a photograph (especially good for panoramas) across two pages without having staples or a spine in the way. Admittedly these books cost slightly more but are well worth it. And my other tip would be go for as big a book as you can afford. We have two A3 books and they are fabulous coffee table books and one A4 book which doesn't get opened nearly as often as the larger books. I only have one slight niggle or negative and that is when designing the pages there is the option to have preset photo spreads or design your own, I prefer to design my own so am left with a grid pattern. However the photos don't snap to the grid so they have to be lined up by eye, not a problem but it would be a lot easier if there were a toggle option to snap to grid. Overall they are fabulous books that remind us of our special moments on holidays and will do so for many years to come.”

Hi Catherine, Thank you for your review. I am not sure if you are aware, but in the desktop software you can save your own layouts and reuse them throughout your book. If you are using the same layouts regularly, you might find this helpful. Also, you can adjust the gridline spacing in the software settings, and if you turn on the magnetic alignment tool (icon looks like a magnet), it should line up the edges to the grid when you move your images.
