“Bought this for a lady with dementia, living in sheltered accomodation, who has once or twice gone 'walk-about' and been unable to find her way home. This is a great gadget if you have home wifi: you can set up wifi 'fence' so carer is alerted if device leaves the area of the wifi signal. My Nan doesn't have wifi in her flat, I have tried various other wifi signals (you can use any wifi signal available, and don't have to 'log in' to it!), and the 'Geofence' which works on satellites. The geofence is inaccurate when she is indoors, but very accurate out of doors, and I have found this works ok to let me know she is out, but it took some experimentation to centre it for best effect. The other issue is getting the gadget attached: Nan would forget to put it on, so I have put it in the pocket of her Stroller. No good there as a falls alarm, but that's not a problem for us at the moment, and she generally takes her wheels everywhere out of the flat! The SOS button calls me effectively, and could be used by a helpful passer-by who found her, to call carer. You can see clearly and accurately where the gadget is once she is out of doors, and can remotely adjust the intervals it uploads location to as frequently as one minute, so should be able to find her easily if she goes wandering. I have tested the falls function, it works well. Battery life is about 2 days with location upload on 1 hour interval and no other use as communication device etc. Cost is neglible: the £1 sim card it came with lasted weeks with our use (phone calls etc when testing it), and we have now had it nearly 2 months and spent maybe £2. Small and neat, it can easily hang on a lanyard or in watch holder gadget. Good tool!”
