“It was a very good program overall. I am very pleased that I did it through TEFL.ORG. There are a few suggestions that I would have...The multiple choice answers seemed obvious at times, the correct one always seemed to be the longest one - so not thoughtfully designed or perhaps meant to be obvious. There were some tech issues. I had finished Units and then days later the platform it would indicate that they were unfinished. Its not a difficult program, and pretty user friendly except for that. I enjoyed it.”

“All courses were not difficult to complete. They were comprehensive to build a teaching foundation. The only negative comment is once completing the course it was difficult to obtain the certificate of completion.”

“An accessible and inexpensive way to learn the TEFL method. I came to it aged 60 and still managed to learn! The units are well presented with a good mix of video explanation and text and a good amount of interactivity via the quizzes/gap fills. I particularly appreciated Jo's grammar explanation and have gone back to them before giving lessons, although all the presenters were excellent. I appreciated the video lessons which served as a fly on the wall virtual teaching experience to learn the all important practical application, again with a variety of styles to learn from. However, some of the end of unit quizz questions were a bit cryptic and almost fatally tripped me up on one or two units (phonetics) as they didnt really correspond to the lessons: got to 3rd go before passing. I found my tutor (Thomas) very helpful, going beyond simply marking to giving extra advice on the subject. I found the assignments hard sometimes, especially keeping within the word count. Thank you for helping me go from an invalided maintenance man to NQT in a few months, and am now working as an english teacher here in France.”

“The course itself was fairly straightforward, easy to access, and organized. I took the course for speakers of American English and while some of the presenters were American, much of the course was actually British English and all of the classroom examples were British. They were still useful but I'm curious as to how an American wou7teach the same content. The module on teaching English online was a little more tailored to American English, but it still included the British spelling of words like color. Not a huge gripe, except that it was marketed as "American English". I'm glad I took the course and I'm happy with everything I learned. I'm grateful that I have a strong academic background and was able to "translate" the British to the American. I'm not sure if everyone taking this course will have that sort of background however. There were many examples of this but the most glaring was in the business English portion when the instructor mispronounced the brand name "Nike" and then taught that pronunciation to their students. It is such a popular American brand that such a mispronunciation in front of an American would be very embarrassing for the speaker.”

“A course designed by idiots, for idiots. Simplistic quizzes that only serve to challenge your patience (example shown in the attachments), arbitrary definitions and principles drummed up by god knows who and outdated teaching concepts (e.g. learning styles) that continue to highlight why education in the UK is at it is. The only saving grace, is that it's cheap.”

The quizzes are designed to reinforce these core concepts before progressing into lesson planning, classroom techniques, and teaching practice. “I recently completed the 120 hour TEFL course and I’m very happy with my experience. The course was well-structured, practical, and engaging from start to finish. “Overall, the course provided useful information and covered many important teaching concepts. However, I found that many of the videos were unnecessarily long, especially the classroom interaction examples. There was a very strong focus on eliciting answers from students, but in reality this approach only works well when students already have a relatively high level of English proficiency. I also found the online teaching assignments excessively long and time-consuming. Since I am not interested in teaching online, I think online teaching should be offered as a separate optional module rather than being a major part of the course.”
