“I purchased some sleepers and 100mm x 100mm timber. Unfortunately had to chase up a delivery date. The delivery arrangements are strange and incredibly expensive. Two points: I was warned that I would need two people to attend the delivery as the driver would not assist in unloading. This is would have been a first in the many deliveries that I have received from others. Indeed I would not have been insured to unload from the lorry. I was charged £219 for the delivery of the timber. For this amount I fully expected a Hiab lorry or at least dedicated transport. However the timber arrived in a pallet lorry - all loaded on one pallet. Transport for a pallet in one such lorry is in the region of £45. Assuming that the load took the space of two pallets. There is still a 100%+ profit for someone. Of course manipulating 2.4m lengths out of a lorry requires the use of a pallet truck - requiring the driver to move sundry other pallets that he was to deliver. Recommendations: Reduce carriage cost, don't give inaccurate instructions regarding unloading and send the goods on a lorry which can deal with these type of loads. Oh the timber was good.”

“Whilst the timber sleepers were great, sadly the delivery was not. We should have received delivery warning on the delivery day and approx time. This did not happen which meant we were not ready with more than one person to offload. Even if there had been two people the only way to off load was from the side as the driver could not use the pallet truck to move the load and we were not allowed to climb on the lorry. The delivery was then delayed to the next day. The second delivery was via a lorry with a suitable tail lift and the kind driver delivered it into our drive without us needing to touch it. So thanks to a tail lift and a very helpful driver which was not the case with the initial delivery attempt.”
