I have been a customer of IDS (formerly dance direct for over 15 years). I find that much stock is hard to get and most items are unavailable to purchase anymore. I completely understand that it may be very hard to get hold of certain items now but am disappointed with the alternatives, as the quality and style are not the same. I have unfortunately now had to look at other sites to cater for my needs and requirements. Like ‘June’ pink leotards, georgette wrap skirts and the P60 leotards and wrap skirts.

Thank you for the review and your custom over the last 15 years. IDS has been supplying teachers for over 40 years and it has only been recently that we have had problems with supply. It is true that the Plume range of garments that we offered when we took over Dance Direct (which is now our sister company) are no longer available in Europe but we have 1st Position garments that are the same designs and of a high quality. If you want some help in choosing the replacement garments please phone customer services on 01626 363232 and someone will be only too pleased to assist you. We hope that we can continue to supply you with what you need and look forward to another 15 years working together.

Hi! It´s my first order with IDS. Everything is great, delivery, products etc. However, I found that the prices have increased and I am wondering if it´s still worth ordering through IDS.

Thank you for your review and welcome to IDS. It is great when we have customers from Norway ordering from us. As far as the prices are concerned they are still about 40% cheaper than Retail prices. As you are aware everything from raw materials to transport have gone up dramatically yet we have kept the price rise as low as we can and is the first increase since 2019. I hope you will continue to buy from us as we always try to give the best value for money and pride ourselves on our product selection and quality.

Thank you for your feedback and for your custom over the last 6 years. We apologise if you feel the service level was not as expected. We have improved our shipping times and product availability. Unfortunately the past couple of years did have a domino effect on many things, including factories and suppliers closing. We have now arranged alternative sources in case of unpredicted events happening again. In the meantime we are doing our best to get stock levels up to where they used to be.

The things I ordered were all good quality and arrived promptly. Can’t fault the service once I had actually completed my order… However, the process of actually using the website to order was nightmarish! It took me multiple attempts over several days, to the extent I almost gave up completely. It was very slow loading from page to page and at times refused to load the basket page completely making it very difficult to edit my order. I also found that sometimes it would say something was in stock and then when you clicked on it the page was faulty and there was no way to add it to the order. I hated the way that when you clicked on something, often the price would shoot up from what it initially said, even if it was only available in one size and colour. Overall, the dancewear and shipping was great, but the website desperately needs improving.

IDs is my main platform for uniform and costumes the quality is amazing what let’s it down and many other dance teachers are saying currently is the lack of stock. I am constant having to go other places to find outfits and costumes as there is always missing stock. I find it hard to order for a whole dance as there are never enough stock. If there was enough stock I would use it more.

Sadly we have experienced an awful lot of out-of-stock issues for our Academy uniform and dance shoes recently, leading to disgruntled parents and students. IDS have been informed of this frequently and some of the expected in-stock dates have not materialised. Hopefully things will be back on track for the start of the next year.

Our shelves are filling up as quickly as our suppliers can deliver into us and we are doing our best to keep you informed on the progress of back orders but if a supplier puts the delivery dates back then we can do nothing to speed that up. Service on the live chat is hit and miss - some assistants appear helpful, other not at all. A lot of uniform and costumes we require is out of stock and has been on and off for months. A very different experience compared to pre-COVID times.

Used to be a bigger and better range of costumes. Sadly this year I’ve had to source my show costumes from elsewhere and only purchase a few bits from yourselves.

Planning and forecasting continues to be difficult due to the different levels of restrictions still in effect around the globe and we do not want to lower our standards by using cheaper inferior fabrics. We are working hard to build up our levels of stock and have many new styles on their way to us.

Ist position ballet shoes come up really small and are a strange shade of pink. It's disappointing that you can't do exchanges as I've had to return 3 pairs of shoes but to order correct sizes I have to reorder and pay postage again

I bought 2 dresses that were very good quality, however the sizing is not correct. I have a 6 & 7 year old and bout the medium child. ( 6-8) I had to cut the knickers out of one dress as it was too small and too late to send back as they needed an outfit. The sequins scratched their arms quite badly too. Nice dresses but sizing needs sorting

We have kept the price increase as low as possible, and most items have not increased in price at all, but everything has gone up from raw materials to transport costs. We want to maintain our high level of quality, which you also appreciate, so do not want to cut costs by using inferior fabrics.As far as speed of delivery is concerned we now pledge to despatch the same day for orders placed before 12 noon and most are sent on a 48 hour tracked service. Thank you for your continued custom as we want to be your preferred supplier and are doing our best to get back to normal.

nothing is ever in stock and when you ring up to ask they give you a date and it still doesn't turn up. I know there have been problems but an honest answer would be better than being fobbed. been waiting for over 8 months for uniform to be in stock.

Unfortunately, you seem to be out of stock of a large amount of items for very long periods of time, which makes uniform ordering very difficult. All other aspects in terms of delivery/communication, swapping damaged items etc is very good.

We are doing everything we can to exceed expectations in terms of delivery and, at the moment, we are despatching within 2 working days from order placement. We are working with our suppliers and our shelves are filling up as quickly as they can deliver into us. We want to continue to be your preferred supplier and are doing our best to get as much stock in as possible but unfortunately dance shoes seem to be taking a while to come in which is a situation we share with other dancewear supply companies. I am so sorry not to be giving 5 stars. Your service used to be outstanding and I am still/will still be a loyal customer. However, out of stock items have lately created repeated inconveniences and deliveries have become much slower. Hope I'll soon be able to change my rating to full marks!

Dispatch not what it used to be. Used to dispatch insane day and often came the next day. Not any more. Can be frustrating when ordering for students as it takes now much longer. Shame as stock range is excellent.
