About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“After the 2mil refurb a few years back, please do not close the pool for any period during the day. It’s as close to inefficient madness as I’ve ever seen.”

“Could be a really good gym staff are nice and helpfull it’s in desperate need of new up to date kit, heavier dumbbells more weight plates, lat pull down machine new leg equipment and more the town is lacking a good gym this has the chance to be give the community something it needs but just feels like it’s forgot about the same as most things here”

“My classes were not appearing on the Halo App.Therefore, I missed classes that were being held and with spaces available. I found this to be frustrating. My preferred classes were often full. The majority of staff were friendly and helpful.”

“Some machines are now well dated and could do with an upgrade (as like Merthyr has had) The free weights area can be a bit cramped too with another squat rack being a good addition”

“I really enjoy using the gym and pool when its open. The staff are great And its always clean and tidy. I think that the gym could potentially benefit from a squat rack; and maybe another cable rack. Also the pool is great. But needs a bit of tlc. Loose grout alot of the time. Alot more could be done with the space, that training pool would be better to either be fixed or filled in and the gym extended; but totally get the fact its funding etc! More snack/food options would also be good now vending machine has gone”

“My son felt that the staff could be quite rude towards him at times not all the staff just certain ones .. the app is not easy to navigate and when I called the halo gym no one amswers the phone I find that is the reason my son wants to join a different gym.”
