About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I have assigned a score of 3/5 which from my perspective is an optimistic evaluation. At first glance this Halo centre is not a terrible site. It is once you start looking with any degree of clarity and objectivity that you realise the problems. Issues like the amount of broken lockers, the badly placed and worn out old POS and the general lack of consistency in operational standards. Anyone of the remarks might not seem important. Yet they all together paint a picture of a business unit with low standards. More importantly a unit that compromises at every opportunity. However, the single most noticebal issue is the personnel. Apart from the one really stand out individual (Mel) and a few other reasonable individuals. I find myself wondering why some of your personnel chose to work at this unit. The range of most of the personnel is between overwhelmed through to apathetic, uninterested to at least one person. Who displays a total lack of interest in your customers and even a certain level of disdain for anyone who raises even a question. There is a distinct lack of an effort to provide a worthwhile customer experiential service for your customers. I constantly see little groups of personnel chatting amongst themselves whilst no attention is given to customers. Customers are not welcomed with even the simplest of greetings. Smiling appears to be forbidden there is no warmth. In short most of the personnel are well below any standard that should be considered acceptable. Your personnel should want to approach customers build rappart. Make customers feel welcome, to be a part of a culture of succes and show enthusiasm for customers and help to develope those customers. Your business is in a position to be a real driver for change in the local community. Yet most of your personnel can barely bring themselves to say good morning or hi. Halo needs to do not just better rather very much better.”

“Love coming to the soft play at the sports centre although is has been really cold there recently!”

“The Halo centre at Brockworth has friendly staff but the changing facilities are not kept clean to a good standard especially the floors and interior changing cubicle dividing walls and showers. The pool itself appeared clean but the floor underwater often contained hair and other tiny pieces of fluff.”

“The centre is good the staff are friendly and helpful. The downside is the lack of classes although the few that Liam does are very good. This is my reason for leaving as other gyms offer a wider range of classes.”

“Good facilities, trainers are very committed and professional. Sometimes cleanliness needs improving, dust in gym especially around machines and window sills. Bridgend Life centre Quite often virtual bodypump sessions are not set up, have to find a member of staff to set up session, who sometimes are unable to rectify problem or if they can results in sessions starting 10/15 late, that then affects the next class as their session starts late and they are impatient to get into the room.”
