About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Gym recently refurbished with some nice new kit improvements added. Changing rooms are nice but half of the keys are missing from the lockers. Maybe adopt a keypad type system to avoid this. Showers in the changing need improving not very powerful at all. Very positive experience otherwise.”

“Generally good and friendly staff but not enough classes to fulfil demand and they often get cancelled (there seems to be no back up) E.g No Aquacise classes Tuesday and Thursday this week as Wendy is off and no cover for Sophia for Pilates on Friday due to a family funeral. By the way both these ladies are excellent”

We appreciate your concerns regarding the availability of classes and the cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances. Your comments about Wendy and Sophia will certainly be passed on, as we recognize their excellent contributions. We are actively looking into ways to enhance our scheduling and cover for classes to better meet demand hence the added extra pilates on a Thursday starting in the new year. With this being Christmas we always have a period of no classes for two reasons, allows staff to use up remaining annual leave and also it's a very quiet period so a great opportunity to do this. “Excellent range of fitness classes available. Receptionists still really slow at dealing with queues. The addition of the self check in stations has been a big bonus but they're still prone to failing at times which is frustrating.”

“I have been a member of Halo Centre for a long time and I am mainly using the Hereford Leisure Pool. Staff is always welcoming and friendly and the gym is well equipped. However, the swimming pools and the changing rooms are a bit cold and it’s very unfortunate that the sauna and jacuzzi aren’t open anymore. Otherwise, it’s a convenient location and a friendly atmosphere.”

“Really enjoy swimming at Hereford Leisure pool. Pool and changing rooms clean and tidy and friendly staff. However would like there to be an evening social swim at least once during the week.”
