About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The centre itself is ok but since halo took over from Torfaen leisure the service is terrible. Can't contact anyone. Very poor, much better under Torfaen Leisure.”

“Maesteg swimming pool. Womens changing rooms were dreadful. Only two individual cubicles. Flooring all cracked (trip hazard) most lockers not working. Recently bench came away from wall & toilet door fell on to customer. Needs a total refit. Staff are wonderful always helpful .”

“I attended Bridgend Recreation Centre on Wednesday with my granddaughter. We were going swimming. I feel I must bring up the cleanliness in the changing rooms. It was absolutely disgusting. One of the drains had black mould and clumps of hair in it. I understand it is difficult to keep swimming areas clean, but the filth here was says old. Surely the area should be cleaned at least once a day?”

“Pontypool is falling apart. Shaky and dangerous weights benches, boxes without sides, dangerous uneven floors in both gym rooms, broken health suite... The transition to Halo was terrible. Emails weren't sent, wrong info sent to everyone en masse, and still can't link children to your account. The staff however, are lovely. Hard working, friendly, and do everything they can to help. They are the only reason I've stayed!”

“Staff are helpful and friendly. My Yoga Instructors are simply the very best. Pool Staff are always on hand to help and keep us safe when using the pool. Showers and changing areas are kept clean and tidy.”

“From my first visit I would like to say that the young lady on the desk was very friendly and explained everything to us. The changing area was very spacious with ample private cubicles. On entering the pool area I found it to be very good, a little tired in some places but nothing that impacted my swim although found the water a little cool. Overall I had a pleasant time and will be back.”

“I use halo Bridgend 5 days a week from 08 - 09.00. The reception staff are always friendly and very courteous, the life guards are very helpful and more than happy to chat and show personal interest in the users of the pool. All in all my experience at halo Bridgend has been totally enjoyable.”

“The gym as a whole is a great community, and I love to go regularly. All of the staff at Bromyard Halo are very friendly and helpful, as well as their being a wide spread variety of machines and free weights/equipment available for use for different methods of training, meaning there is a good availability for training types for different people. The only critique I would have is maybe having one or two more benches would be beneficial as it isn’t uncommon for all of the benches to be being used. I have had a great experience at Halo and will continue to go 😁👍”

“I was very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff my experience was with the toning suite which is very well equipped my only reason for leaving is for my financial changes unfortunately my halo subscription has to go I would recommend highly your facilities and very helpful staff thanks”
