About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I very much enjoy attending the small group training sessions that I attend, the instructors are very encouraging and supportive. For me the biggest issue is the entance login system, I’ve attended nearly every week since it was installed and it has worked for me once. I also find the gym door entry very difficult to use, even when I’m given a code.”

“Great gym, top quality equipment and friendly staff. Has everything I need for a solid workout. Etiquette of some members is very poor. 90% of the time, weights are left on machines or on the floor. There are also some members who will “reserve” equipment with personal items. This isn’t the fault of the staff but it could be more well enforced.”

“Gym equipment is amazing and the staff are friendly and helpful. However gym etiquette can be poor weights are regularly not reracked or put back in the correct place.”

“I have been attending the Active for Life circuit sessions with Ffion Deere at Bridgend for a little while. This morning I took my mother with me. She is in her 70s and has had major spinal surgery so is very weak and wobbly on her feet. Ffion was absolutely brilliant with mam, she adapted every exercise to suit her and supervised her every step of the way to make sure she was safe. I can’t thank Ffion enough for all she does but especially today with mam, it is very much appreciated. Diolch yn fawr.🩷”

“Centre was ideal for what needed just a little disappointed that when I signed up the Halo website showed a student membership option which I took, I was then informed this was no longer available”

“The centre caters for all ages and abilities with the most comprehensive range of classes offered anywhere in the area .. Staff are helpful and attentive and and I have no problem in recommending Bridgend Life Centre to anyone who asks me.”

“The staff mainly. They engage with public so you feel as if you know them. Always empathetic. The classes were great if not oversubscribed. A victim of their own success.? Maybe extend these obviously popular evens. ( only left you because of house move.) Happy memories of a local amenity.”

“Thanks entirely to the support and help from staff of the Hereford Leisure Pool the consultant has been able to postpone my shoulder replacement indefinately and having suffered a tibia plateau fracture two years ago, their advice and exercises have restored the strength in my right leg. It is a welcoming and enjoyable place to go - even on days when I just want a cup of coffee, veg smoothie or just to see a friendly face.”

“Very tidy gym,nice and clean with enough equipment for most people,could be a bit warmer on cold days,bit limited in the men's upstairs changing room,only one shower☹️”

“I attend the gym at Hereford Leisure pool and enjoy it.However there are some issues that need to be addressed. I feel that the male changing room for the gym is not cleaned as often as necessary. The cleaners are efficient but I would like to see a more regular cleaning regime. Perhaps a list in the changing rooms showing when they are cleaned and signed.”

“Maesteg swimming pool is in dire need of help. There were only a couple of lockers that actually had keys so if I wasn't lucky enough to get one anyone could steal my belongings. Only one of the 3 showers worked, there was a large crack in the floor leading to the women's changing room. The pool itself was as nice but the lack of changing room facilities left us feeling really disappointed especially as the cost of swimming is high.”
