About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I've been using the centre for more than 15 years, most of the staff are approachable and friendly. I attend circuits every week, my bug bear is the old equipment we have to use, the mats we use each week have been in use since I started there, 15 years ago, they're put way and to my knowledge never cleaned. I think we are over due new equipment.”

“Leominster Halo Centre is such a welcoming, positive place to be. All of the Staff are friendly, professional and always willing to help in any way they can. The group classes are very well organised, fun and I look forward to participating every week.”

“Poor choice of classes due to Refurbishments which are taking a ridiculous amount of time to conclude and indoor cycling classes are missed by so many members but they don’t seem to listen to what people want. The toilets are smelly and dirty and some equipment is rusty, squeaky and really starting to show its age. I’m looking into a membership at other gyms as a result which is such a shame as halo leisure centre was once brilliant.”

“Ladies showers in maesteg only 1 working sometimes there are approximately 30 ladies doing a class at one time having 1 shower working out of 3 is not acceptable on the whole halo provides good services it’s a shame the shower situation lets you down”

“Showers are not always working. Changing rooms need updating. Free family swim should be if you don’t cancel or turn up you should be charged. Many times it full and Mayr half only turn up stops other children having fun.”

“I have been a member for a few months and I am also a member of a gym in Bristol and a personal trainer. I joined this gym for my own training as my girlfriend lives local . The staff are excellent and the equipment is new an very good.”

“I take my children to swimming lessons at the Merthyr tydfil leisure centre on a wednesday, the cleanliness to the family changing rooms is appalling, dirty floors visible mud and balck dirt where children walk best feet, a terrible smell possibly coming from the nappy bin. Dirty environment, no soap in toilets. Such a shame as the lessons are excellent but the cleanliness of the changing rooms is a worry.”

“Staff need investigating at Merthyr. They are rude, blocking doors with black blocks, I ask them to leave while my daughter changes in the female changing rooms and they just scoff at me and say we need to clean. When I mentioned it to the manager they again scoffed and mentioned how they were under staffed and could only do what they could. My daughter is reluctant to attend another SDC dance competition because of this. I've tried contacting by phone but I can never get an answer so I will be seeking higher authority.”
