About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Staff are great. The one thing that I am not happy with is during the school holidays the sessions are changed to suit school kids. We pay membership and are not able to find sessions in the swimming pool that work for us. We miss out on the on the swimming which affects our health. If it happens during the 6 weeks holiday this will not be good. We are not allowed to go into family swims as we don't have children yet they can be empty and the social swims full of children”

We understand how important it is for all our members to have access to the facilities, especially during school holidays. The additional sessions we’ve added are available for everyone! During our extra social swims, there’s always a lane set aside for those who want to swim lengths continuously. Meanwhile, the other side of the pool also remains open for families and children. “Enjoy going to the gym but the machines are always offline so can connect to the app to keep track of my time there and there’s a few machine that have been out of order for while and at peek times it’s really annoying that we can use these machines”

“george loves to come swimming but as he’s to old and big for the small pool he goes in the hog pool as he is a good strong swimmer, how ever it’s very difficult for him to swim and have a good time when the big pool is filled with adults doing lane swimming, it be nice if half the pool fools be lane swimming and the other half for older children to swim an have fun.”

“Active for life class(Monday am) is excellent. Only problem is it is so popular! Within 2 hours of booking opening it is fully booked. Now have to set my alarm for 7 am, 2 weeks in advance! Can more classes be provided, please? (especially with Rhiannon who is amazing!)”

“Changing rooms always smell like someone has weed on the floor and generally unclean , broken lockers and timings are awkward for booking swims to work around work times”

Hi Emma, Thank you for your feedback and for bringing these issues to our attention. We're sorry to hear that the cleanliness of the changing rooms hasn’t met your expectations. We take hygiene seriously and will address this matter with our external cleaning team to ensure a better experience for everyone. We also understand the challenges with the locker facilities and booking swim times around work schedules, we do try our best to offer lots of different times and sessions through the day, early morning, evenings and weekends. “I think the waiting list system is poor ,for group exercise. It relies on you looking at your emails within a short space of time,not always easy. It'd be better by text. Also there should be a child free swimming session in day time on a week day. No other complaints”
