About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Rhydycar offers a wide range of classes and halo app is easy and convenient for booking in. gym is well equipped but the biggest shout out goes to boys who run the classes, particularly Rhys, Liam and Paul, they are amazing and make exercise almost enjoyable.”

“The staff there are so friendly. I always feel welcome. I enjoy using the swimming pool and attend some of the classes from time to time. I'd go more often if I could!”

“Most staff at the Bridgnorth centre are friendly and helpful. There are some exceptions but I believe the main person in question has recently returned to work at the Highley branch. The changing rooms are very dirty however (there is longstanding scum on the back of the doors in the cubicles and showers for example) and often the nappy bins aren't changed over the weekend so warm Monday morning visits can be rather offensive. Also ine womens changing rooms a number of the showers don't work well (tun off after about 3 seconds for example) - and the shelf by the mirror by the toildets has been removed so its' difficutl to sort your hat and goggles out without going back to the mirror at the entrance. Please can we have it back? The classed are great and well varied however and the gym very good with good equipment. And generally very ood value for money.”

“I attended the Halo pool today at 8 0 clock for the 60' free swim initiative but I had to get out off the pool because there was a family playing so I was unable to swim. When I complained and asked was it a leisurely swim session or a play session I was informed that anyone could attend but everyday through out the day there are several sessions for families to enjoy and single people are not allowed to attend so why is it appropriate for families to play in the pool when this session is a leisurely swim session. All staff I spoke to were polite and the children in the pool seemed lovely children but there is no point having a leisurely swim slot when you cannot swim as its the same area is being used for family time. I throughly enjoy using the Halo Bridgend the staff are lovely but maybe descriptions of lessons should be more precise if it has now changed to a multipurpose session it should say I wouldn't have gone for a swim at this session if I'd known it was also a family session as its a little bit dangerous and not ideal having swimers and families in the same time its unfair on the swimers and families trying to have fun Thank you. I have given a good rating as I'm happy with environment and staff but please could it be clarified who this session is catering for. Miss Toni David thank you”

“A handy and pleasant leisure centre, run in the main by efficient welcoming staff. I have noticed that areas of bushes overhang the parking area and that the surroundings don't get the attention they used to , gardening wise.”

“A place to work out. A place to socialise with both employees and other gym-goers. The staff are always very helpful and polite, willing to go that additional yard (or metre) when others may not. The large hall, does get a tad cold in winter and a tad hot in summer - but that will need some capital expenditure which may not be available. I would also like the pool to be open more frequently as currently it does get a little crowded. I'm very happy with my membership and will happily recommend the Rec to others.”
