About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Lovely centre, staff are always friendly and professional, can never do enough to help when needed. My only negative is that the gym needs some updated equipment, such as stair climber etc, and extra dumbbells for cardio room, it would also be beneficial to make more room by the dumbbell area (fire exit) as only one person can use that area at a time which means waiting for someone to finish their workout before you can start yours.

Halo in Leominster is impressively well run. I have always found the staff friendly and helpful st all times. On one occasion I had stupidly left my wallet and phone on a bench. They were immediately returned to me by the manager who refused any reward.

The staff are really great, always fun and encouraging. However… The changing/shower rooms and toilets are awful. The toilets are not clean and regularly are without soap and paper towels Many of the lockers are broken/unusable The showers don’t even have a hook for your towel As a privately run public amenity… you are clearly cutting costs and putting profit before people.

The staff, classes and instructors are amazing - 5 stars. Facilities need improvement, the upstairs toilets are grubby, peeling paint etc just in need of repair/refurbishing. Hall floor is dirty and often has food stains on it, the blue exercise mats are dirty. The changing room facilities are also grubby, do have to use the swimming pool changing rooms. The membership price is similar to other gym facilities in the area, if it was not for the pool and the brilliant instructors/classes I would look elsewhere.

Golf, Gym n swim for less than £40 a month. In my opinion U can't go wrong - excellent deal ;o)

Love this facility and it’s great to see families out enjoying the outdoors. The door security facility is understandably required however the software interface is a nightmare! Always needing to reset the app to recognise my device. I wouldn’t normally take my phone as I’m at risk of loosing it, so it’s a nuisance to have to carry it around on a dog walk. Especially when the gates are often left wedged open anyway. Could you not issue a code or a swipe card?

I have been a member for 10 years at Bridgend and in that time I have seen some brilliant instructors leave. I find that popular classes are taken off the timetable to be replaced by not so popular classes and even though there are only 2 rooms upstairs holding classes there is no thought by management to have a member of staff check that the instructor has turned up or the virtual screen is working properly. This means you have to go looking for staff members should an issue arise. You can never get hold of them on the phone and they are heavily reliant on one member of staff to cover popular classes, like Daria who holds the only body pump les mill’s qualification, and so she calls the shots mostly. If more staff members were trained to provide cover this would be far more beneficial to members by providing much needed cover and allow for classes to go ahead instead of being cancelled or taken off the timetable. Studio 3 in particular only holds 15 members and during the day or popular classes this number is increased as people attend without booking as they want to do the class and then we all end up like sardines. I am so surprised that staff members don’t regularly participate in classes or even management for that matter so they can understand what the members want and experience in order to arrange a suitable timetable. Rachel Greenstart is an amazing instructor however and I enjoy her classes immensely. I do feel that the centre needs a more prominent customer facing management with a proper customer service desk and for them to hear and feel what customers experience and need. That way when popular classes disappear you will understand how disgruntled members feel.

Halo has helped me thro many very difficult times accidents etc I have been a member for many years coming up to being a honary member I encourage people to and join and tell them of my experience it is not just a plce to keep fit it is a social occasion and if it was not for halo i would not be where I am now Thank You Halo

I have recently joined Halo Ross on Wye, it has a decent selection of equipment to use, the booking system works well and the times that I visit, never seems too busy. I understand the membership recently increased to £40 per month with the view that this includes the use of the swimming pool, ok if you want to swim but not for me, but there is no option for the gym only. Couple of gripes, I think when a piece of equipment breaks-down it should be repaired quicker, and the glass frontage could be kept a lot cleaner. Other than this I am enjoying the experience.

Hi, Thank you for your recent 4 star review we appreciate your feedback. We do offer a pay as you go option for each activity, however one gym session is £9.50, this means if you use the gym once a week you are making the most out of your membership. We always do our best to get any repairs on the gym equipment completed quickly, we use an external company and they often have delays on the parts. The badminton court near the entrance has broken ceiling. I have lost many shuttles during playing badminton. Please fix this. There should be a dim light while doing the yoga. Also the badminton charge must be a number do all 4 can divide equally. In the ladies changing room there should be a separation board or wall just for changing clothes, using toilet is not good idea. The number of table fan should be more during hot temperatures in all classes. Yoga and Pilates classes should be more and during weekdays evenings.

The staff are friendly and helpful and the pool itself is always clean and a great facility with the smaller pool too. The changing rooms really need work especially the ladies’ - there is often a smell of wee, the doors on the toilets are frequently broken and it looks rundown and unloved in comparison to other halo centres.

Staff are all great, friendly and helpful. Lack of cleanliness is what lets the centre down. Two weeks and the disabled toilet bowl appeared to not be cleaned! The floor is hosed and all debris collects under the changing bed and behind the toilet. The grab rails never get wiped and are thick in dust. It’s really not good enough. A lack of quiet swims means I am currently looking for an alternative place to swim. Lane swims always get priority. Why??

I really enjoy the classes. Just feel that a lot have been cancelled due to staff holidays and illness. Classes are not covered and we are still paying full price especially when due to work I can't always get to other classes
