About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Thank you for your feedback. Whilst we are a popular gym especially early in the morning we have three rooms of equipment which gives us 55 stations for our customers to use. Sorry you feel that there are not enough machines for your use. Kind regards Maesteg staffing team

“I do about 3 studio classes a week and I'm very pleased with them. The instructors are professional but good fun, especially Barbara ! There is a good variety of classes to choose from but personally I only like attending the morning ones. I wish you would reinstate the cafe upstairs. It's such a good way to get to know people when you go for a coffee after the class .”

“Much better to swim now the slow lane has been widened a great improvement The temperature of the pool can sometimes be quite cool and should be checked more often. The lack of lockers that work is an ongoing issue, along with some swimmers continuing to leaave clothing and bags in changing rooms (if all lockers worked it would help)!”

“Very convenient location. Has a library and cafe which makes it well worth having membership. The gym is well stocked with weights, also weight machines, and cardio equipment, and there is a mat area where you can work out No one bothers you , it's my little bit of peace and me time, in my busy schedule.”

“Mostly very good. Downside is having to pay for parking at the pool. Secondly I would prefer not to share unisex shower and changing areas.”

“Friendly people, very good trainers and facilities but places especially the gym could be cleaner (swept under the machines for example). Generally a very good experience.”

“Lots of classes to choose from, and if you can’t book because it’s full, you can go on the waiting list and they’ll email when a space becomes available. And if you don’t turn up you get a strike. Very fair.”

“Everything is very 'okay' - I'm primarily a pool user and the facility in general isn't very clean Similarly, it is difficult to get lane swimming in due to the limited pool availability/ timings”

“The team at Ynysawdre Leisure Centre are outstanding, consistently polite, professional and friendly. They are an asset to your organisation. My rating is a 3 due to the poor state of the shower and pool facilities at Ynysawdre. The showers are moldy and the tiled pool floor is dirty. The shower and pool area needs more investment. “Quite happy with what we get. I'd really like to see more shorter classes ie 30 mins and more early morning (7 or 8am) classes, a yoga would be good. Only negative for me is the Friday yin yoga are no where near as good as they used to be, the new teacher just isn't relaxing”
