About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I use the centre @3 times a week, usually in the pool. The last few weeks the water has been exceptionally cold. Showers are often cold and the individual cubicles often have clumps of hair on the floor. This is not acceptable. Last week there was a discarded sticking plaster floating about which staff knew about, but it was not removed!”

“For a small gym it is a pretty good setup. Definitely needs a leg machine and one or two bits of kit could be taken out to make room.”

“I would like to Halo Ledbury allow swimmers into the pool after the last session has finished instead of standing around waiting for the official start time of the pool session, especially when there is a life guard standing there. Swimmers were allowed in after the last session had fit pre Covid, why not now?”

“The aqua aerobic classes held by Joe & Mo are a very good enjoyable workout. Unfortunately though the cleanliness of the pool area and changing rooms is poor, each week the changing room floors are filthy and add to that the constant smell of urine in the changing rooms is unacceptable.”

“I really enjoy visiting Maesteg Swimming Pool but as I work office hours, I am quite limited to book social swimming. On a Tuesday the only option is 8pm and there is no social swimming on a Wednesday evening or Friday evening e.g. around 6pm.”

“I have been a member of the gym for a year now, and, I have found it a great place to workout. The staff are always available to offer new ways to improve your performance or offer you a proper training programme which they tailor to the individuals needs. I really enjoy my time working out. I also attend some of the group sessions and it really is value for money.”

“Played golf at Hereford racecourse on Sunday morning with my father. The course is awful. The greens are unplayable with divots in. There is no telling if you are on the fairway or the rough with cut grass left all over the coarse, The greens also have piles of cut grass all the way around them. Not one bunker was playable, they were full of weeds.”
