About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“It’s a small centre but reasonably well equipped with gym equipment but unfortunately there are no lockers for members to use this really needs addressing.”

Dear Richard, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, we really appreciate it. We understand how important reliable Wi-Fi is in today’s world, and we are actively working to improve connectivity throughout our facility. We had to discontinue customer Wi-Fi due to the amount of customers using it, the costs involved and the disruption it caused to our connection, which affected our work computers. Our current plan is to reinstate this in the future, and hopefully next year at some point, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. We are pleased to inform you that all showers in the male dry side are now fully operational. We apologise for any inconvenience caused while they were out of service. We also have some unisex showers in our village changing area, which you are also welcome to use if any issues to the dry side showers are to arise in the future. Our centre has adopted a cashless system, which has proven effective at our Halo sites, and we plan to maintain this approach. “Ross on Wye has excellent, helpful and happy staff that are always friendly. The facilities are kept clean and tidy and the sauna is a define bonus for post swims and workouts.”

“Gym has been tidied/spruced up- machine pads have been replaced. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars is just because the gym (mens) changing room could do with an extractor fan in the toilet area or some kind of automatic air freshener and the fact that a lot of the school children tend to leave their belongings scattered around the benches and indeed, the floor.”

“Great swimming teacher for wave 3 staff are very helpful.but the end changing room drain is smelly every week got to ask the staff to put some bleach down it very disappointed something more permanent has not been done.”

“I have been going to maesteg swimming pool on and off most of my life, haven’t gone so much of later because there is lock on the door of the disabled changing room this has been like this for weeks despite being reported, I feel this is discrimination as im disabled and I can’t change in there.”

“The staff at both centres are excellent. However, I feel Bridge Street is a bit neglected and more work needs to be done to attract higher usage and smarten it up.”

“I have been a full member of Ross on Wye Halo for 7+ years, what an amazing centre. The gymnasium is probably the best I have attended in all my exercise years. The equipment, replaced this year, is top range you could not want for more. My needs are simple, apart from being an "old fogey" core exercise is my bag and all I need is there for me. Halo's greatest commodity is its staff. They are all precious in their own way, friendly, cheerful despite the weather they look out onto each day. You are welcomed with a genuine smile along with a greeting, they really cannot do more for you, smashing people. For me it is my place to go not just for the essential exercise but for the positive social interaction I receive each time I attend. Thank you, Michael”
