About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Spectacular place. Polite, well-informed staff. Clean building, always being cleaned, too. Nice people go there. Lots of equipment, plenty to use. Very friendly atmosphere from all patrons. Ample parking. I don't think there is any reason to complain about Halo.”

“I've cancelled my membership because halo are unable to maintain basic facilities and services. I only had my membership for the sauna and steam room at ross swimming pool. The steam room has only ever worked for a day or 2 at a time. The sauna door has been broken for months. The showers thermostat has been altered so it is no longer cold. Defeating the object of the sauna and cold shower. The changing rooms aren't cleaned for days or weeks at a time. Only the floors are cleaned. Sometimes the same dirt is left on the benches and doors for days or weeks at a time. People constantly reserve changing rooms by leaving their belongings in them, instead of using the lockers. The staff are incapable and unwilling to give users instructions on how to use the sauna and steam rooms because they say they're scared of insulting members. Halo should hand over responsibility of this business to someone who cares. Because you clearly don't”

“The leisure centre and staff are all great no probems The issue i had and reason for not continuing to use the leisure centre is the amount of chlorine in the swimming pool, every single time i used the pool i had a runny nose sneaving and generally feeling unwell, i also get a reaction to my skin making it very itchy and red, some times with small blisters forming i would love to able to use the facilities as i currently swimming twice a week at womborne leisure centre and dont have any of the same reactions in the pool i didnt use the gym or group sessions so cannot comment on these”

“The staff are welcoming. Although some of the facilities are tired, Halo offers value for money in a time when paying for fitness is an additional burden so we welcome all that they do. Excellent communication too 👏”

“I was overcharged for a gym membership. There is no communication between their staff. I was told by a mate that there was a £5 deal on for January, however when I went to get this deal, I was told it was no longer valid, until a week later I was told by another member of staff that the deal was still going.”

“Love having access to sports and swimming facilities so close to- it’s great for all of my family. The only reason it’s not a 10 is supervision needed in the gym when young kids are messing around and dropping weights loudly”

“Having problems booking my grandson in when we attend swimming. He also has a membership card through the local authorities , he is 5 years old, it keeps trying to charge me .”

“Roof leaking, class gets moved to smaller area if hall hired by outsiders, have to queue to scan in if long queue to pay at desk. Cafe rarely open.”

“Always helpful and accommodating, when I attended gym , or swimming with my 3 grandchildren and son who is (38 yrs old) friendly staff always, could be more changing facilities ie the red changing stations for babies and extra spaces to house the changing stations but we have worked around this when the small pool is not so busy . Now and again there is a strong smell from the drains and a strong smell of urin from the floor in changing rooms”
