About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Bridgend Halo works for me, there’s many options and different classes to choose from. It has a fantastic selection of fitness equipment in the gym and the sauna area is also perfect. I find most of the staff can be very helpful and most of them friendly. The centre is clean, adaptable to the aged and those unfortunately with disabilities.”

“As a first time visitor to the Golf course, I was not sure where to go, but the young lady in reception was fab, advised on parking costs - and walked me outside, with directions. The golf course was well drained, but the greens require some attention. As a visitor you don’t know the order of T boxes, and relied on asking others, so I recommend so simple signage please, but overall the course is good value, and I would return.”

“Probably Halos best centre. Always clean, staff are friendly and helpful, a great number and variety of classes for all ages and abilities, and all within an old iconic building.”

“I enjoy using the sports centre in Merthyr however I feel the opening hours are too restrictive. It would be really helpful if the centre was open until 10pm or maybe 10:30 pm to give people opportunity to use the changing facilities. The ground floor made changing facilities need some attention. The urinal area looks really poor and smells, often there aren’t any hand towels, there’s never hand wash and the lockers either have no locks or broken locks.”

“love the pool ,few have commented on lockers could do with a wipe out and I have noticed shower cubical walls maybe could do with a jet wash .showers lovely temp. pool sometimes bit cool but once start swimming it's OK. Staff friendly and inviting also swimmers friendly nice crowd .overall very happy 😊. Thanks”

“Great staff and facilities - sometimes marred by teenage boys from the school messing about in the changing rooms and toilets leaving unpleasant messes. It can be intimidating for females to have teeenage boys running around and using phone cameras over changing room doors.”

“Fits my needs admirably. I particulalry like that having paid my monthly sum i do not get charged extra if I want to take a pilates class etc. If I was paying top dollar I would expect a sauna etc etc”
