About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Merthyr Leisure Centre - awesome staff and good facilities BUT please sort out the timetable on the Halo App - the swimming start and end times aren’t correct. Also, make more evening sessions available for lane swimming - it’s currently 1 hour only (less due to set up time) and half a pool for everyone. It’s not good enough for the membership fee.”

“There is a definite improvement since Halo, takeover, more hygiene & cleanliness.The manger Joe has mainly improved communication & knows me by name..My only concern is the ladies only swim.i can't see why one lane couldn't be allocated for men.. it's good to start swimming lessons, but one lane could still be used by others..Mainly an overall improvement, the staff are fair & friendly.”

“Th exercise studio is in constant use but has no working air conditioning. It is certainly below the level I would expect and appears to have not been updated for a long time. Especially in recent days I would consider it being unsuitable for types of classes being held there”

“Swimming pool and changing rooms are great, clean and well kept. Gym Equipment is dated, pads well worn, missing screens etc. from the weight stacks. Unfortunately there is no Sauna.”

“Its is great that you have put a gym in the Craven Arms centre but the experience is limited becuase there are no shower facitities - clearly that would be a large expense and whislt I do understand the cost of upgrading and runnining a shower area has hugh budget implications it just feels a bit underwelming changnig in the loos and climbing into your car after a session all sweaty! Not sure what you can do about that?”

“Well equiped but heavily used. Difficult to assess value of monthly membership once holidays etc. subtracted from cost. All in all, a good local facility.”

“I really like it there, however i do wish that sometimes the staff got the kids that go there a lot to move off the machines once they have used it as they can spend ages on there and sometimes the staff dont do anything”

“I only attend one class (Teresa Low Impact Fitness) which I love. I am very disappointed at the lack of tea/coffee and refreshment facilities. Halo is missing a trick not having a cafe where members can get together before and/or after their sessions. The current space is completely unacceptable - and very noisy as it is a thoroughfare for the pool, gym, and all other spaces.”

“When instructors for aquafit are ill sometimes holiday or on a course then it happens that we have no cover to run the class.Its annoying but not too frequent.”
