About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Good gym and good straightforward pool for fitness purposes. Car parking adds about 20% or more to the cost of regular use as a member which is a shame really.

In terms of the car park, there are a couple of free car parks a short walk away from the centre that are available to use. I love my halo it's always clean and great atmosphere never feel judged, all the staff are friendly welcoming and very helpful. There is lots to choose from the gym,swimming and a variety of great classes for everyone at any level of fitness

Booking system is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful on reception desk. Instructors run classes well. Only complaint is classes are not always covered and cancelled when staff absence.

Staff are excellent in what they do but the centre is very dated and needs badly updating Especially pool area changing cubicles and showers it spoils what is an excellent service 🙄 😀

Halo Ross-on-Wye is a very happy place. The staff, both reception and instructors are great, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The group exercise classes are varied and carefully planned taking into account the latest scientific research in performance and exercise techniques. They are certainly not boring and I definitely feel the benefits in both my fitness and energy levels.

I attend the stadium 4 times a week and because it's BRILLIANT and SUPERB down there i have never had any problems

No improvement since take over.Classes cancelled at last minute.Classes not covered when known in advance that instructor is not available. No new classes introduced. Air con in dance studio in Pontypool not efficient. Ladies toilets could do with refurbishment. Popular classes being timetabled at same time e.g. Yoga and Zumba 10.15 on Tues at Pontypool. Cafe too expensive and not good. No longer use it.

Most of the staff are extremely friendly one or two on reception need a smile. Was annoyed when I turned up twice to an aqua class that they forgot to cancel. Car park needs improvement. Staff should have a pass that allows them to park out back as spaces are a premium.

At the Brockworth site equipment remains broken for months, when enquiring about repairs staff always shrug and blame head office or the area manager as being useless. Nobody seems to care at all!

I only use the swimming pool on a Wednesday Ladies only session. I started in May 2021 & have been going nearly every week. For the last 4 years the session has changed from 50mins down to 45mins but unfortunately we don’t actually get into the pool until nearly 6.20pm as there are lessons on before & we are ‘kicked’ out dead on 7pm as the canoeing club in so we don’t get any extra time at the end of our session to make up the time lost before our session.

Often machines are broken and out of use for some time, the drinking water has been off but now working again, I was told a year ago when I joined that the changing rooms were being refurbished still have not been done and there are no lockers . I am looking at other gyms and would have left by now but the distance to other gyms is a problem.
