About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I do pilates in the gym it has been upgraded with new weights etc the only thing really the free area has reduced which in a way I do understand why but the mats are not clean not really good for doing pilates and are in need of updating as they have seen better days and really they are not the best for low impact like yoga and pilates. Not sure about the music choices to be honest that is very much like a broken recond at times you have mix of age groups using the gym and this really needs to be taken into account. but the staff are all helpful friendly and all aprroacable”

“Helpful staff good instructors especially Sophie and Mel. Could do with a body pump class as there are too many Spin classes. Centre could do with an upgrade of wights and steps in the dance studio some are old and tatty.”

“I wish to have more aqua aerobic classes, it is very popular and very rare there is free space. It's a pity that sauna is not working 😕 I used to love go there after swimming.”

“Maesteg Swimming Pool is great and all the staff are so helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that if you work full time you can only swim on a Thursday evening. There is Ladies Night on a Monday but I think there needs to be more options for a swim after work. Starting to consider if my HALO card is worth it.”

“The staff are welcoming and friendly, always helpful and supportive. Classes are well attended with knowledgeable instructors. It would be good if some investment was made in the building and equipment, as it had been in Hereford.”

“I enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the centre. Yet to try classes but would like to. Very clean, and parking is good. I love that the stretch area has been moved in the gym to the separate room and hope it stays like that! Only improvement is the opening hours could be a little longer, but that’s because I work 8-7 every day and would like to work out for longer in the evening :)”

Hi Robert, Unfortunately, we experienced an external issue with Welsh Water regarding the mains drainage to the building, which required us to close for the evening. Whenever we have to close, we make sure to contact all customers with existing bookings, update our app and website, and post notifications on our social media channels. However, in the case of an emergency closure, we sometimes aren’t able to reach everyone in time. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Kind Regards, Halo
