About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Always clean and not too overcrowded, I go on my own and feel comfortable and safe while enjoying my exercise, staff are friendly and helpful”

“My center was great up until October 2024 careing for all my needs, when they had to re-furbush the center due to flooding i lost a lot of options for my main exercise, on re-opening they have slashed the number of classes available only offering a few a week and alot of those are during working hours. As a long term member i asked to cancel but was given the stock answer of 28 days notice! no flexibility ofr a service that was dimished and no good for me anymore”

“A few of the machines in the Fit for All Suite are in need of repair. The only none spin cycle is broken, and there is another cycle with a proper seat that does not allow the seat to adjust. The tricepe machine has an arm missing and mabe more. Most of these faults have been apparent foe several months. There appears to be no attempt to repair these defective machines. On a more positive note, the receptionists, notably Erryl & Carol are very efficient, pleasan, helpful & t professional in their dealings with customers”

Regarding the machines, they were fully serviced in January, and the contractor is currently waiting on quotes for repairs from the supplier. “i am moving outof the area, that is the only reason for cancelling my membership. i have loved coming to this pool and using the facilities,everything has been positive, very friendly, clean and never too busy.”

“Brockworth sports centre has the worst manager ever!!! Bryony laws Never returns phone calls or emails - never available, I have never seen her customer facing unlike the previous manager Matt who Was brilliant. The centre is dirty, unclean and hardly any staff on hand to help. AVOID!!!”

“Initially I phoned to enquire and was pleased to speak to a person. ( rather than pressing buttons then at the end being told to look at the website) I then called in to make a book8ng and was impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff.”

“Facilities are good, always clean. Would help if changing rooms were monitored and patrons are requested to use the lockers provided and not leave belongings in changing rooms. Would also be great if more of the popular classes could be added to the timetable and patrons are only allowed to book one session per day in order to give others a chance to attend”

“Once a great venue, Ynysawdre is now old, tired and decrepit. The vast majority of lockers are at least missing keys, if not doors. Whilst the ‘chrome’ rails on poolside have more rust than chrome. The one saving grace for this venue is the approachability of the staff.”

“Lovely swimming pool and changing area. Water is far too cold though, will only use this pool if I can't get in anywhere else.”

“Bridgend Halo centre is a good all round centre. Sadly staff motivation is poor which then reflects on to members. On saying that there are a few members of staff who are motivated. Has a good spa area Sauna and steam but needs to be maintained and cleaned better. Bridgend is definitely value for money.”

“Friendly, helpful, professional staff.... they all know their health and fitness, and they keep members fit., healthy and injury free! Halo Highworth is a well organised gym, with pool and classes and more... the app for booking classes, gym sessions, etc. is excellent!”
