About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Friendly, helpful staff. Ladies toilets are poor - leaks, toilet roll holders broken, door locks and seats broken. Need hooks in showers. Fitness classes are very good and never cancelled in my experience. Childrens' swimming lessons are great.”

“Me and friend tried to go swimming at the Hereford leisure pool, I had booked online but my friend could not as her account was deactivated for some reason. Before we arrived, there was 14 spaces left on the app but when we got to the desk to let my friend pay, she was refused and told bluntly there was no spaces left. The girl and boy on the reception desk were rude and blunt to us and not helpful at all. I have never had an issue with the staff at any of the halo centres so this took us by surprise.”

“I regularly attend my Halo Centre to take part in classes. I do a couple of Pilates classes and a Dance Blast class most weeks. I've also been to spin, 15/15/15, step and legs, bums and tums. I would do more if time were to allow. The trainers are excellent. I think the Pilates is especially good. I've often been swimming too and I've used the sauna. The condition and temperature of the pool are good and the changing rooms are kept clean. All the staff are friendly and helpful”

“Reception & cafe staff all really friendly! Lifeguards mostly speak too but feel some need to be more pro active regarding the rules of lane swimming sometimes”

“The centre is always clean, and the staff are always friendly. The pool is big enough to accommodate plenty of swimmers, and parking is ample.”

“Aberfan leisure centre is an excellent community facility. Very friendly staff and customer service. The cardio room has all what you need to improve and develop with running machines, rowers, bikes and cross trainers plus cable machines for various muscle groups however, they are dated and need modernising. There is a free weights room which are modern and were updated a couple years ago. Good selection weights and dumbbells. As mentioned this centre is great for the community!”

“I wanted to book tennis at brockworth, it advertises it but you can only book badminton. I spoke to reception and they say they can’t book it for me either, if you have taken tennis off please update your website”
