About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Recently joined the exercise referral scheme and impressed with range of equipment available. Bot instructors have given excellent guidance and advice as a newbie. The whole of the centre appears to be clean which is vital to a lot of people- only downside I was advised the sauna/ jacuzzi has been out of order since Covid which is disappointing.”

“Staff are fantastic. Great customer service skills. Pool is a wonderful facility but sometimes a bit on the cold side for my young son. The viewing area is stiffingly hot if you are observing children's swimming session.”

“Please can you reopen the toilets in Pontypool leisure centre by the cafe before park run starts on a Saturday. I am a paying member of your gym and would like to be able to use the toilet before I start park run. It now means that park runners are walking through the whole of the leisure centre looking for toilets. It maybe worth mentioning that they are often in a disgusting state (not from park runners I may add). We have many park run tourists who would also like to use the toilet after sometimes a long journey and who often stop in the cafe afterwards to spend their money in the leisure centre. Let’s welcome people here, not put them off. The toilets in the park are in an even worse state so please don’t suggest using those.”

“I have really enjoyed using Halo Leisure in Leominster - staff have always been friendly and helpful. I would only add that at times there has been debrie near the pool side - hair, rubbish etc whoich has been left there even when staff have walked by.”

“Swimming lesson spoiled. Tuesday my grandson was nervously waiting for his first wave 3 session, with the teachers help we got him started and he enjoyed. Unfortunately we couldn't find anywhere to change after he eventually had a shower. We walked around for a good 10 minutes but there were clothes in every cubicle. Poor boy was very cold, not good enough.”

Thank you for sharing your experience about your grandson’s swimming lesson. We’re glad to hear he enjoyed the session, but we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience you faced with the changing facilities. It’s not acceptable that you couldn’t find a clean and available space after his shower, and we understand how distressing that must have been for both of you. We are using many methods to try and mitigate this challenge with limited space, you are more than welcome to use the group changing rooms if this helps Your feedback is invaluable, and we will work on addressing this challenge to improve the experience for future visitors. “Dear Halo Leisure Management, I am writing to formally express my ongoing concerns as a swimming member at Tenbury Pool, regarding the persistent and unacceptable inaccuracies in the swimming pool timetable displayed on both your app and website. Since Halo Leisure took over management some months ago, I and many other members have repeatedly encountered issues where advertised swim times do not reflect the actual schedule in place at the facility. On many occasions (including today), I have arrived to swim at times listed online, only to be informed by staff that no session is available. I have even taken screenshots to demonstrate these discrepancies to staff, who have acknowledged the errors. As mentioned above, this issue occurred again today. The app and website advertised a swim session from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. However, upon arrival, I was told the actual session had been from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. I had rearranged my work shift to accommodate the stated timetable, only to find that the information was once again inaccurate and unreliable. This recurring problem is causing significant inconvenience and frustration—not only for me but for many other members who have shared similar experiences. It is unacceptable that we cannot rely on the published schedule when planning our visits. Such ongoing issues are damaging trust and discouraging continued membership. Unless this matter is urgently addressed and resolved, I will not be renewing my membership. I know others feel the same. One must question the sustainability of Halo Leisure’s business model if it continues to lose regular swimming members due to such basic operational failings. I urge you to take immediate steps to ensure that the timetable information provided through all channels is consistently accurate and kept up to date. Clear, reliable communication with your customers is a fundamental expectation. I look forward to your prompt response and a swift resolution to this issue. Yours sincerely, Jane Ward”
