About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Ledbury Halo is well run, clean and friendly. There’s a good variety of well taught classes, a wide variety of gym equipment and several different pool sessions. The sauna and steam room are a valued addition. The staff are a great asset- friendly, helpful and well trained. The only disadvantage is that the booking app sometimes freezes, making it hard to book.

I found Bridgend gym very bad in terms full of school kids on there phones and just abit of a youth club my local gym is Pyle so Iv tried all the halo around to see the best for training the Pyle gym could do with a bit more, an the jacuzzi not been re opened since covid is abit of a let down as Iv spoken to a few people that come to the gym and they miss that in Pyle.

Bridgend Life Centre is one of the most friendly and widely used Leisure centres I've ever been in. The concept of sports and fitness facilities in the same building as a Bowls centre, a soft play centre, a cafe and a library means it's a hub of activity for all ages and interests. Owing to this base line, it is not in the least intimidating. The range of activities is broad and there is something for everyone regardless of age or ability. If I had to have a little moan it would be that maintenance is a bit slow and there's fierce competition to get into some activities especially aquarobics on a Monday and Wednesday.

I have recently joined Halo Hereford. It wasn't easy as I struggle with anxiety and other physical health issues. The staff are all very kind and patient and helpful. Helen and Wendy have been incredibly supportive and thorough in explaining everything from joining, checking in, using the toning tables and classes, use of the app. What an amazing place. We are very blessed in Hereford to have these facilities and fabulous staff.

What’s up with the air conditioning in the main gym? Also that receptionist needs a retainer in customer service. She never says hello or ty. Utter ride!

Reception staff go out of their way to be helpful and are always welcoming. Toning suite staff and set up is fantastic and is used by all ages and abilities affectively. Halo sparks gymnastics is exceptional. Abi is an incredible coach as is Sam. They are loved by the children attending and have had the respect and complete attention of my grandchildren from 18 months until attending school. Dementia group is well set up and a very happy place to volunteer in where those helping and attending integrate together. There is also good inter agency cooperation from what I see with NHS community staff. Thank you 😊

Helpful friendly staff but poor pool facilities. Changing room requires upgrading/cleaning mould from ceilings, shower are more often than not cold. Toilets have had broken seats for months.

Im extremely impressed with Merthyr Tydfil Halo, working in the leisure service myself as a reception in a leisure centre gives me a bit if knowledge of leisure and I joined merthyr because the Leisure Centre i work at does not have much pool time for public sessions in rhe evening. After doing some research Merthyr was by far the best for pool time , from Blaenau, caerphilly and aberdare. I cannot tell you how impressed I am by the amount of fitness classes you run, the access to pool is fabulous you use every part of the pool which allows customers to get access to public swim times and classes easily. The staff at Merthyr are all lovely, everyone I have come across are professional and helpful makes me feel very welcome. I am so pleased I joined Merthyr!! The water based class instructors are lovely, knowledgeable and make you feel welcome always happy to help. The only thing I would say, and it isnt a complaint its a little feedback. I predominantly use the Aqua classes due to an accident I had a few years back to build myself back up, there are a lot of people with medical issues or are elderly ans iv noticed how some are really struggling to exit the pool, one lady told me she really struggled pulling herself back out due to her shoulder and hip issues and didnt know if she would come again , another elderly woman also wasn't sure if she was going to come back due to the same issue . It would be sad if they did stop attending due to this as they find the classes beneficial I know the pool I work at has graduated removal steps which are much easier for people struggling with things to enter and exit the pool and rhey are removable so dont need to stay in the pool. I wondered if this was something you maybe could organise to help people give them the bit of extra support they need ? I did send a message on messenger but not sure if it has been recoeved. Other than that , I am so impressed with everything I have used, and i am telling everyone I know who are having the same issues as me accessing public sessions about Merthyr pool as I think its fantastic all around , and value for money too ! Keep up the good work .

Generally all favourable. However, the pool changing room showers are often not as clean as they should be. There is often a lot of hair on tne floor in individual shower cubicles, which is not hygienic. And there is often a strong drain type smell in the changing rooms as a whole.
