About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“All the staff are very kind, friendly and helpful. The gym facilties have everything needed, however some of the machines have been out of use for a while now. The opening times are very good, and the facilities are always clean.”

“Fantastic staff who are friendly, helpful and motivating. There's plenty of classes to participate in all day every day. For someone like me who goes around 5 times a week it's well worth the money.”

“Maesteg pool staff are very happy and helpful at all times. The building is in need of some repairs. I use the pool 3 or 4 times a week and love it there . I’d be lost without it”

“The Merthyr Centre has a cafe which only opens when there is a big tournament on (we attend the centre at least three times a week). Most of the staff on the front desk have no knowledge of the classes halo offers (the beginners adult swimming lessons are a recent example. A family member was told to turn up but in the next sentance staff said there was only 6 spaces and you couldn't book 🤔). There are some old members of staff who still offer a smile and are welcoming. We live 25mins away so can't always easily pop in if we have a query, but the phones are hardly answered - the app has been useful because of this. It could be so much better.”

“The recent upgrade of the changing rooms and showers has made Pyle pool a first rate facility. The staff are helpful and pleasant. The building clean and pleasant. The pool is used by a wide range of people of all abilities and provides an essential centre for fitness and social interaction.”

“Great place staff are amazing welcoming and friendly and helpful.. the facilities are great the gym has enough equipment for all abilities.. The swimming pool is big enough and always warm enough.. The aqua classes are amazing and suitable for all.. They also do other classes indoor cycling which I really enjoyed.. I would definitely recommend it to everyone”

“I only use the swimming pool, but would like the water temperature to be displayed on the wall and also a bigger clock as it is difficult to see with your specs off, also would be good if there could be a clock on the wall at both ends of the pool.”
