About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“It's a nice pool, some of the staff need a lot of training.”

“Absolutely awful. Joined for the gym and it’s full of kids using equipment with no advice and bad form. Young girls hanging around in the free weights area. Staff on reception are miserable. One young lad also a lifeguard sat on gym reception on his mobile no acknowledgment of who’s coming and going. Had to cancel my membership £28.00 a month to be surrounded by kids in a gym. Shocking. No interest in speaking to new members and absolutely no induction offered. I would rate this place -5 stars if I could.”

“The staff are always helpful and polite. On occasions the fast medium and slow lane signs are not positioned in the "Swim for fitness" sessions. In the past this has led to frustration with the slower swimmers unintentially obstructing the faster swimmers.”

“I visit Highwoth leisure centre 3 or 4 times a week. The wet changing area and pool are clean and well maintained. The gym is the same and is equipped with brand new machines. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Can't rate it any more highly.”

“The classes are great, but I feel the gym needs to improve- particularly the weights section as it looks quite tired and isn’t very inviting.”

“Nice staff who are always welcoming and willing to help, excellent equipment with plenty of choice, I avoid going in after 5pm as there are too many school kids in the gym”

“The Centre is very good I use it for swimming pool, the staff are friendly and helpful,the only issue I have is that I can no longer pay online for my sessions and I have emailed a couple of times but the issue hasn’t been resolved”

“The pool is very well kept. The staff are friendly and efficient. Facilities are generally well kept. Occasionally the app doesn't function well. Swim times are sometimes altered without notice. Pool attendants are not always pro-active enough in managing lanes so the narrower fast lane gets busy when the other lanes (particularly the large slow lane) is very quiet.”

“All the staff are very kind, friendly and helpful. The gym facilties have everything needed, however some of the machines have been out of use for a while now. The opening times are very good, and the facilities are always clean.”
