About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“The price of the membership went up again !! On most occasions,there was equipment was out of order ! Swimming pool ,always looked dirty ,changing rooms had an awful smell,and lots of people would wear the out door shoes …”

“The staff, especially Mark are a credit to the sports centre. Some of the equipment, sound system and free weights used in classes need to be improved.”

“Nice staff, clean environment, great equipment. Ladies toilet needs new hand dryers. The current ones take an age to activate, and when they do decide to work, work for such a pitiful amount of time. If new dryers aren't provided, please provide hand towels.”

“Just joined and staff and facilities excellent with the exception of the changing facilities.Taking shoes off in the corridor,unisex changing and showers does not work as has now been accepted by numerous other facilities .Also a lack of pegs in the shower cubicles ,need at least 3.”

“Very helpful and pleasant staff. Cost of membership is good. Gym is well equipped and spacious. On line booking is useful. Only dislike is the changing facilities for the swimming pool, unisex means you are going in and out of you locker several times.”

“I love the new look gym but I don’t think it’s worth the new increase in price as now I’m not sure about staying as increase in price I don’t believe worth it as other members who I have spoken to think the same.”

Good afternoon Noah , Thank you for your feedback, and I’m glad to hear you love the new look of the gym! We truly appreciate your support and understand that any price increase can be a concern. As a charity and social enterprise, every penny we generate is reinvested into our facilities and services. This means we do not have financial reserves to absorb rising costs, and we are unable to sustain operations at the previously agreed gym membership rates. We did our best to keep the lower-end membership at the previous rate for an additional four months to ease the transition, but in order to continue providing the best facilities and services, this is the lowest price we can offer while keeping the leisure center open and running effectively. “I do love attending Halo Leisure but I find it impossible to attend classes. I know you have a waiting system and these go very quickly. I wonder if there is a way to put on more classes like aqua fit, chair yoga and activity for over 60s”
