About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Overall, very good gym facilities and kept clean. Staff are all very friendly and helpful too. Would be nice to have more classes in the mornings for members. Perhaps starting around 9.15 - 10.00am (45min class) so that mum’s could drop children at school first. Suggestions would be; legs,bums and core, body combat, body pump, step, Pilates and yoga.”

“Good gym facilities which are kept very clean and tidy. Needs lockers in gym to store personal belongings when working out. They should put on classes in the morning at around 9am for body pump, HIIT, legs, bums and tums and possibly yoga and Pilates.”

“Conviently situated for the local community. Plenty of free parking spaces and EV charging points. Swimming pool, Sauna and small gym suitable for regular exercise for all ages.”

“Maesteg swimming pool is in a mess the female changing rooms are all broken and dirty there is a hole in the floor which is H&S issue nothing have been done no matter how much you complain to the staff”

“Great little centre with great staff. Only gripe is some classes start a little early if you work and trying to get to a class that starts before 6pm is very tricky, but overall love it and it's great for the community 😀”

“Sites in Gloucester have become diabolical since being taken over by new management who never seems to be available to speak to also doesn’t seem to care about staff after overhearing conversations.In general Staff seem unhappy and clueless which is a shame as facilities are alright. Need sorting before more people quit.”

“I like the new changing rooms. It is a shame that some of the cubicles are already damaged. Need to remember to clean right into the corners and get rid of the hair bundles a bit more often. Staff are friendly here and make sure the desk is manned as frequently as possible.”

“Bridgend leisure centre is my base. I attend classes couple time a week. Mainly good. Reception is busy and not able to answer the phone. Sometimes short of staff on reception so queues often. In the exercise rooms OK, bit dusty at times. I realise the exercise rooms are always busy so not much time at that point to clean, maybe best end of day to sweep through. Wish there was a general class of Tai chi added to list”

“I use the Toning Suite which is easy exercising. It is kept clean and the machines have just been maintained so are running smoothly. I do not rate the cafe as it is always slow to get a drink after a large class(>30).”
