About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“This is the first centre I've been to so I do not have any comparisons to draw on. I only joined to aid weight loss and get fitter. I have achieved both and no longer need to go so regularly. The gym is extremely well equipped and the staff are very friendly. The inside of the gym is kept very clean by the staff. The only two negatives I would comment on are: 1) Many other gym users come straight in wearing dirty trainers used outside instead of changing downstairs into a clean pair before entering the gym. There are notices everywhere reminding them to change but they do not abide by them. As a result, there is always a lot of grit and debris on the running machines and mats from their dirty soles. I feel the staff should police this clean shoes policy more for the benefit of all gym users. 2) The large picture windows all down one side of the gym are filthy dirty on the outside and do not look as though they've been cleaned in years. I appreciate they are at high level so access is difficult. It is not pleasant for gym users to look out of them and makes the building feel uncared for. Apart from that the facilities provided at Ross Centre are excellent.”

“Absolutely love Ledbury Halo centre. The staff are friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is lovely - well managed, facilities ususally all working and clean. I look forward to going for my swim! The gym area is great - lots of good and up to date machines. Helpful staff.”

“The staff are lovely and very helpful and the center is clean and bright I would have given five stars, but though the changing room always looks clean, there is often a collection of hair in the shower as though someone has cleaned the drain but forgotten to pick the hair up. Also underneath the benches the back wall looks as though it's often not cleaned”

“HiI do enjoy coming to halo and they have more machines that I can use at the gym for disabled people to now I think that makes a big difference to everybody that’s goes to the gym John price”

“Great variety of classes and the enthusiasm of the instructors inspirational. Love the aquafit classes but would really appreciate another evening aquafit class.Personally I hesitate attending gym sessions - I just feel uncomfortable as a female. I have used the hydrogen frequently and hope that this facility continues. I tried the adult swimming lessons but was frustrated with the size of the class and the inconsistency of the instruction - I made little progress but would certainly try again.”

“Friendly staff and clean facilities however, the gym is small and lacks sufficient free weight equipment and could do with a powerlifting rack at a bare minimum to compete with other gyms at a cheaper price.”

“I have only been a member of Craven Arms Halo for 2 months after I moved to CA from Hertfordshire. I use the library and have started to use the gym each week. I don't think the gym is used very much by the community (just an observation) and it does need better regular thorough cleaning of the surfaces - window sills, heaters, machines, which are all dusty and dirty. This does not give a good impression or encourage better attendance. Library and admin staff are very welcoming, local book displays, notices and posters, and leaflets about groups, meetings+++ are extremely well organised.”
