About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Why penalise the majority instead of the minority with the barrier as you enter the pool area”

“Dirty , classes at awkward times . Swimming akward times , that didn’t suit against work. Only open half a day at weekend”

We do offer both activities in the early mornings, evenings and throughout the day to try and cater for all needs. Cleanliness is very important to us so it is disappointing to hear you found it to be dirty on your visit. Was there a particular area? “The gym and staff are fantastic, especially Meg and Jersey who are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The only downside is the wifi. There is little to no signal on most of the rooms which makes streaming music almost impossible. It’s the majority of gym users gripe with this gym and it’s such a shame. Otherwise it’s great but am considering looking at alternative gyms for better connectivity.”

The library has moved out and they provided the wifi. This point has been raised with senior management. “Always been a customer at Ross pool. High standards, friendly staff and great gym classes. Changing/shower facilities are one of the better ones I've been to. Wouldn't go anywhere else :).”

“I have been visiting the centre to use the over 60’s swimming sessions that are on offer at 8am in the morning. The centre is always clean, as are the changing rooms and the pool area. I will happily continue as long as the sessions are on offer.”

“Gym is decent but can be overcrowded at times and toilets could do with some maintenance as the doors are broken.”

“The class studio could be cleaner - particularly around the edges of the floor. The small hall has a very dirty floor again particularly around the edges. When parties are held the rooms are not cleaned well enough (presumably the hirers responsibility) so hirers are not held to account. Range of classes is good but substitute tutors are not always found - could leisure centre staff be trained to take some classes?”

“The centre is good and staff are excellent however some machines are in poor condition and in need of repair or replacement. The handle on the pull down machine is all taped up with sticky tape and isn’t what should be expected for a £39 a month gym. The swimming pool and app is great and I will stress the staff are fantastic!”

“well maintained and well staffed great gym , friendly staff that always there to help . One small complaint if I had one is the flush in the men's toilet , you need to be able to bench 200lbs to push it. Apart from that , very pleased”

“The biggest and most beneficial change is having the card which enables me to 'clock' in without having to wait in a long line. I'm still taking part in Easy circuits and enoying the apparatus in the gym. I hope to join in with adult learning to swim lessons and hope this activity will be free for concession members.”
