About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Love swimming here! The floors in the changing rooms often have big puddles, may not be safe for children, but nothing else to worry about.”

“I tend to use Maesteg swimming pool - the pool & gym. Firstly the changing rooms ... half the keys for the lockers are broke with no wrist strap attached. People have attached elastic hair bands. There are only 2 individual changing rooms. I find it very embarrassing changing in front of young children particularly boys. There has been numerous occasions where young males have been in the changing rooms, not nice for a middle age woman. The health suite can be overcrowded. For someone who works, not much opportunity for public swimming after work. I'd be happy to use the small pool. The gym ... half the equipment is broke and extremely rusty. Very poor ventilation... wall fans are awful condition. On the positive staff are friendly and helpful.”

“It has a warm and welcoming feeling and makes you feel comfortable to work out and the facilities are outstanding however i do feel like some more equipment would take the gym to another level”

“Halo swimming pool in Ledbury is lovely, and staff are very good. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that for the past two years, despite it being mentioned, the showers have lost their wall racks (for toiletries) so everything has to go on the floor! Not always easy to manage if you have any mobility issues”

“I like the new pool and sauna very much as they are you get what it says on the tin setup - good for lane swimming. The new changing room have improved the setup well.”
