About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

Generally overall happy with the centre. It is a bit frustrating that the timetable has changed for swimming sessions so there aren’t as many on offer or at awkward times.

Halo Leisure Centre has made a massive improvement to my life. The gym routine that I use three to four times a week as set up by Helen and now lately the body pump lessons have made me strong & fit again as I approach my sixtieth birthday. Great job to all of the team in Holmer Road!!!

You’ve done a way with the spa room, which is lost members it’s still needed even a staff know it, but the other staff doesn’t care

Great community environment to go to work out. Whether I’m using the gym or going for a swim I can happily go and know that i can exercise comfortably in a pleasant and friendly environment. There are all age ranges here which I also love and makes me feel at ease. Staff members are friendly and approachable and always seem willing to help when they can. Thank you Halo team for creating such a pleasant and enjoyable environment, I’m sure it is appreciated not only by me, but by so many people

The centre is very good but it is very difficult to get on to popular classes. Unless you get on the site when the classes are released, you have to go on a waiting list.

Less than one quarter of all of the lockers in the swimming area have no lock and don't work! Been like it for well over 12 months and they're getting fewer and fewer as the weeks go by. The changing rooms in the pool have the same blood/god knows what splatter on them since I complained about it 4 months ago...I was told then that it's because they have a lot of school lessons! As if that makes it acceptable! Yet it's still there...on the walls of the change room and behind the doors.. Staff are beyond lovely however.

At the cafe in Cyfarthfa park today we experienced rude and anti social staff serving at the counter. It is not a welcoming place, very little hot food on display at 11 am Monday morning. Also we have intended to go to this cafe on 2 previous occasions in the last fortnight to be told staff hadn't turned up. Come on Halo, don't just concentrate on the leisure centre, these women are letting you down. Also their appearance & general demeanour is the talk of the place.

The Halo statement is to support the health of the community however in the gym equivalent is showing out of order which did not used to have before. Equipment needs to be repaired and operational otherwise you will lose your clientele.

In sufficient classes and class variety. Pool is often EXTREMELY cold. Day time a Aquafit classes is too larger for the number of showers & changing rooms, especially when members are already turning up for the free swimming which follows the class. When equipment breaks its is months before it is fixed. In the gym there should be submission to ensure proper use of the equipment and ensure larger groups move on from machinery and don't just prop it up while spending ages on mobiles. Do not understand why the sauna or steam room are not bookable for after Aquafit there is no provision within the timetable.

We appreciate your comments regarding the class variety and pool temperature; we aim to keep our pool temperature around 29 degrees which is within the guidelines to meet all of our session users that use the pool. We understand that the large Aquafit classes can lead to congestion in the changing areas, and we are exploring solutions to enhance the flow during these peak times. Your point about broken equipment is noted, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused—regular maintenance is a priority, and we are working to expedite repairs. As for your thoughts on gym etiquette, we recognize the importance of ensuring that everyone can access equipment effectively and will look into strategies to promote this. Regarding sauna and steam room bookings after Aquafit, we appreciate your suggestion, the reason behind the sauna and steam room not being accessible is that our Lifeguard team need a break away from poolside duties as part of the RLSS guidelines. Disappointed that none of the promised membership classes ie:yoga, pilates etc. have ever become available. The only activityfor older users, beyond the gym, is aquarobics. We have oftem asked for more aquarobic classes, as we have a fantastic teacher, but management refuses and the times of our existing ones are constantly changed. A number of members have left because of poor management and the changing rooms and pool area not beimg cleaned properly. We need better management who listens to your customers, is more pro-active and treats our wonderful teacher with more respect. I would definately recommend and use the centre more if we had more activities. One of the aquarobic teachers also teaches yoga but isn't being allowed to.
