About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“fairly positive but some obvious issues which could be easily fixed. Too few staff on reception at busy times and often they are not focussing on the queue of members”

“- Cardio quipment very temperamental (often have 'out of order' signs on) - Weights equipment is years overdue replacement - Too many kids messing around (it's a gym, not a playground) - Small dumbbells randomly disappear into the dance studio (should have it's own dumbbells in studio) - Generally badly maintained showers/changing rooms (clothes pegs been snapped off for past year or so, and not bothered to be replaced) same with lock on one of the changing cubicles. It's not that expensive to fix - Younger staff barely acknowledge you, especially at reception (usually chatting or on phones) zero social skills”

“I attend this centre twice a week to Aqua fit and aqua aerobics classes. The staff are very friendly and helpful at this Centre and changing areas are kept clean. It's a pleasure that most of the showers are now in working order, however in one of the group changing room 2 showers are not working one being in the disabled section, and a lock on the door not working. I also need to ask staff to refill toilets rolls in both the disabled toilets and the group toilets. Very frustrating to find them empty and obviously not hygienic.”

“Ross pool and gym is excellent all the staff are lovely and always there to help etc there’s a good range of classes to choose from and plenty of swim times, the swimming instructors are all great and my granddaughter enjoyed lessons there.”

“I swim at Pencoed Halo pool three times a week. I have always found the facility well kept and clean, the staff friendly and extremely helpful. There is a range of pool sessions to suit all ages and abilities.”

“Been regular visitor to the centre for past couple of years (swimming twice per week) always find staff friendly and helpful.Do think the changing rooms in the swimming area could be a little cleaner even though staff clean on regular basis find lot black marks around bases of the cubicals.If there's one gripe it's the charge for the lockers why these are charged yet go to gym area and they're free feels a bit unfair.Overall find the centre quite good friendly staff and pleasant place to visit”
