About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I think the swimming changing rooms-and all the corners/nooks and crannies could do with a thorough clean-and keep cleaning regularly throughout the day. However we do enjoy the pools.”

“I really enjoy my time at Cwmbran Stadium. I attend Zumba classes run by Nicky Anderson, she is amazing and the classes are fantastic. My only disappointment is that when Nicky is away the classes are not run by anyone else and are cancelled.”

“Such a lovely place, so kind and friendly. Always clean and ready at 6am. Any issues (usually card related) are resolved quickly. I m not a typical gym user (attend due to life changing injury) and staff are welcoming and encouraging.”

“I haven't been to Ynysawdre and haven't been swimming for donkey's years. The staff were fantastic. They showed me the pool and changing facilities, explained the booking system and how the padlocks for the lockers worked.They also gave advice how best to store my bike. They were warm and friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. I was a bit apprehensive, being an older customer in my late 60's, but they went the extra mile providing the reassurance I needed that I can get back in to active swimming. Thank you so much!”

“The staff are very friendly, the centre is always clean and the facilities are ok. Some of the lockers need replacing and it would be better if they returned the deposit to avoid having to get change every time.”

“I use the swimming pool at the Pontypool Halo Centre twice a week. I enjoy the pool but some part do need upgrading. I only use the pool so cannot common any other facility. The centre is really well used, always busy, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. It is a great asset to the community.”

“Pontypool Halo Centre is a very good around leisure facility with an excellent pool. However, I am not a fan of mixed changing rooms. Also, they would benefit from regular cleaning as they are quite grubby particularly the floor.”

“maintenance etc requred in mens swimming pool changing room ie mould on shower tiles and leaking water pipe and valve suplying shower also locking bolt missing on toilet door ;no soap in wash hand basin dispenser for some time !”

“Overall the Highworth centre is great, staff are friendly and the place is clean. Two things I did like to comment - 1) one of the exercise machine was out of service for over six weeks, I don't understand why it is not being fix but it is very disappointing and 2) I had to cancel my membership because I won't be in the UK for five months, Halo charged me GBP2 for the membership cancellation but this was never made known to me until I saw it on my bank statement and ask the receiption.”

“I’ve been coming to the gym for 24 years since I retired and now to the pool also for about 5-6 yrsrs - each once weekly - I’m 88 1/2 so 90 next year. So keep going for a while please. Never a problem. Once last year when I accidentally swam wearing my v expensive hearing aids a member of the staff found them, widely separated, at the bottom of the pool. Excellent. Michael Lake.”
