About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“I love that I can walk to the centre but I feel opening times need to be reviewed. Not being able to use the centre at all after 2pm at weekends and no swim slots from.2pm on friday seems totally inconvenient especially people who work and would swim at weekends.”

We understand that our current weekend opening hours may not be ideal for everyone, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We allow you to enter the gym at an earlier time than advertised time during the week and we have a social swim on a Friday at 2.30 - 3.15pm weekly, I hope this information will allow you to get the most from your membership. “The trainers are fabulous and I and my friends thoroughly enjoy the classes (mainly NERS). The check in process needs to be improved as there are sometimes long queues at the desk, speeding up the introduction of membership card readers would be welcome. The health suite needs investment as there are many equipment failures over many months. Additional NERS classes that we (over 60s ) use daily would be fabulous as the classes are full just a few short hours after they are opened which hopefully you can track and take decions in terms of additional classes.”

“I’ve only just joined and so far everyone has been very helpful. Lovely facilities and quite a range of activities to choose from. Free car parking is is a bonus.”

“The staff are always helpful and polite. Pool is a good size and I like the fact that you have different options about swimming times and activities. The refurbished changing rooms and enclosed showers are a great bonus. It is always a good experience to swim there. You can always find a place to park. I enjoyed relearning to swim properly several years ago with Paul, the swimming instructor. I only use the swimming facitilies.”

“I use Pencoed pool for the Aqua aerobic classes. The instructors are excellent and I always enjoy the experience. Also the reception staff are professional, friendly and always helpful wherever necessary. Thank you.”

“It's the staff that make this centre. Always so supportive, helpful and kind. In particular, Clare B, Barbara, Petina, Nicky in the way they run their classes and the energy they bring! Alex Chris and Michelle on the reception, and always being happy to help and support. Hannah in the management team super helpful too. We did have a bad experience recently with the go bounce not working. But again, the staff were so helpful!! Trying desperately to fix it and offering extra time for when it was. It's the facilities that need the investment here to make it a much better experience for all that use the leisure centre. Reopening the water slides is a great first step!”

“We love our pool, it's such an asset for our town and we use it at least couple of times a week. Friendly, helpful staff & lovely atmosphere in which to get some exercise. The one comment which we would however have is that it could do with a deeply clean sometime soon... It would be great to see it spruced up a bit.”
