About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Helpful staff, excellent classes for over 50s. Improvements needed in start time of classes. Moving 11.00 classes forward would be acceptable to.most people & improve parking. After 12.30 plenty of space.”

“My child took part in the summer holiday intensive swimming lessons at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, and I’m honestly blown away by the progress in just one week. They went from barely managing 5m front crawl and breaststroke to confidently swimming 25m front crawl and 10m breaststroke to the Swim Wales stroke standard. 💪🏊‍♂️ Massive shoutout to Chris – he was absolutely fantastic. So patient, encouraging, and clear with instructions every step of the way. The difference in my child’s swimming (and confidence!) says it all. Highly recommend these lessons – definitely a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ experience!”

“Once the cleansiness is done and facilities fully working it will be great.its a centre which is nice for children I guess, as the swimming timetable is great for them”

“My 10 month old baby has attended bubbles swimming lessons for a couple of months. Absolutely loves the lessons and is confident in the water. Staff are friendly on greeting and departure. Phoebe the instructor gets to know the babies/children and interacts with them. The changing facilities are not ideal though. Only 2 larger cubicles with only 2 changing tables. For swimming lessons more are required. It was very hard to change and dress my baby on the narrow bench when she wasn't mobile but it is especially difficult now she is active and is dangerous to get both of us sorted after swimming without her falling off the bench. Only alternative is to sit her on the wet floor.”

“Staff are helpful and friendly. Class can some times be difficult to get on to. When classes have been busy and other things are going on in other pools can be difficult to find a changing cubical.”

“Equipment in gym is always dusty, changing rooms and showers are dirty looking and classes do not cater for those who work. Start times are 5pm and also few and far between on the weekend”

“No WiFi which makes it very difficult to listen to my favourite gym music. (I like to wear headphones) Equipment limited, won't be renewing membership.”
