About Halo:

Halo is a registered charity and social enterprise running 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Herefordshire, Bridgend County Borough, Merthyr Tydfil, Shropshire and Swindon on behalf of the local authorities. We often discuss our status as a social enterprise, but many of our customers are unsure of what it actually means and more importantly, how it benefits them. Being a social enterprise means Halo trades for social purposes. We are a registered charity and 'not for profit' organisation, with no shareholders.

The money we make is ploughed back into the facilities.

“Really like going swimming. Staff are always so helpful and very lovely. The clock on the wall in Cwmbran swimming pool needs fixing. Sometimes people come in early before my hour of swimming finishes which is a bit frustrating.”

“There is a large amount of snot that has been wiped on the back of a door in the changing rooms. It has been on there for five weeks, I reported to reception last week but it still hasn't been cleaned 🤢”

“Pleasant , friendly centre with jolly decent trainers and an excellent chef in the canteen area. A vast improvement on the earlier council run venue . Settling down nicely after the first year. Plenty of room for even more innovative ideas. Need permanent cleaning staff not expecting trainers to do that on top of their own schedules .local management working hard to keep us all happy - good hardworking staff. Plenty of classes for a range of abilities”

“I love halo Hereford. I would do 5 stars but I hate the changing room floor. I always feel I’m going to slip on it. Doesn’t feel slip resistant any longer.”

“Pontypool centre is brilliant. I enjoy the gym and swimming. Staff are very helpful and nice and building is clean. I really enjoy the hydroslides and the fun swimming sessions.”

“I've had a really good experience at halo,all the staff are friendly and are there to help. The classes are good, the only downside I wish there was more evening classes, as being in work in the day I can't get to the classes I want to attend. And i find doing classes help me more than the gym! So i am hoping more evening classes will be available to help me have the full benefit of my membership.”

“Attending baby swimming lessons today at Pontypool and all of the family changing and disable cubicles, the only ones with baby changing tables, were closed for deep cleaning. I feel that this is unacceptable when you have scheduled baby swimming classes on. Also the instructor that was covering for the usual teacher admitted that she didn’t normally teach babies and didn’t know what the lesson should be like. There were many points during the 25 mins in the pool where she instructed us to do things that were entirely inappropriate for a 9 month old to achieve. She also didn’t follow the normal protocols for submersions and duckling dives. I felt that the session was unplanned and unsafe and left the lesson early.”

“Lovely friendly staff. Only drawback when you go swimming people leave their belongings in the changing room rather than using the lockers but understandable when a lot of the lockers don't work.”

“I love that I can walk to the centre but I feel opening times need to be reviewed. Not being able to use the centre at all after 2pm at weekends and no swim slots from.2pm on friday seems totally inconvenient especially people who work and would swim at weekends.”
